Nick Lachey and Vanessa Minnillo are engaged, reps for both stars tell UsMagazine.com exclusively.

"We're excited and incredibly happy about our engagement and we look forward to a wonderful future together," the couple tells Us in a statement.

"They're so happy, doing great," a source adds. "Thrilled about it."

The two began dating in 2006, following his highly-publicized divorce from Jessica Simpson.

Though they briefly split last summer, they got back together a short time later.

The True Beauty host recently told Parade their relationship has lasted all this time because they openly communicate.

"You have to talk through everything," she said. "We talk daily about things that upset us. It's about having a sounding board because if you hold in all your thoughts, dreams, anger and anxiety than you're only hurting yourself."

She said they have no plans to do a reality show a la MTV's Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica, which caused strain in Lachey's relationship with Simpson, 30.

"Nick has done [reality TV] before and he was very successful at it and tru" Minnillo says. "But me personally, I don't know. I think that there's something to be said for keeping intimate moments to yourself."

Chatting on Good Day Philadelphia last year, Lachey said he was "happy" with Minnillo, whom he described as "a very smart girl. She's far smarter than I!"

Lachey and Minnillo have another reason to celebrate: They both have birthdays Nov. 9.

Lachey will be 37; Minnillo, 30.

Re: Nick's income, I would think he made a lot of $ during his 98 Degrees' days. I wasn't the type to watch every episode of "Newlyweds", but from what I did see, Jessica seemed to be more frivolous w/spending money than Nick. I think he has a fairly big bank account, even if he's not actively working on anything at the moment.

Congrats to Vanessa and Nick. I'm sure Vanessa will be a beautiful bride. :smile1:

Exactly. I think with the millions of albums that 98 degrees sold plus his solo albums plus the revenue from the Newlyweds show would of made him a handsome sum. Not everyone needs to be rolling in money to live a comfortable lifestyle. He and Vanessa seem happy. Too many people with sour grapes....

I agree. He talked about his upbringing once, that the family didn't always have food or money, that's why he's more money conscious.
