***I detest water marks and stains on Vachetta so I was determined to find a product that worked well and didn't darken the leather. The Bick 4 Leather Conditioner is amazing! I apply a small amount with a soft white cloth, then wipe back over it after it soaks with a clean white cloth to remove any excess/buff. It cleans, protects, and conditions the Vachetta all without darkening it. I used on my brand new Mon Monogram Neverfull GM. It has also worked beautifully on my Empreinte, DE, and DA. I have also applied the Bickmore Bick 4 Conditioner to my canvas and it has made the bags feel softer, conditioned, and given them a lovely very light sheen.
Now for the Vachetta ONLY I use the Bickmore Gard More Spray. I do not spray directly onto the Vachetta. Instead I spray a decent amount on a soft white cloth and then wipe down my Vachetta. I apply two coats. Hope this helps. I know there are tons of discussion out there how to care for vachetta. I just know this way has proven itself for me.

I've gone off all my damier ebene bags & have fallen in love with mono again so I am using my mono bags in the snow & rain aswell.
I have been using my mono speedy this winter and no stains on the vachetta, the patina is getting honey colour. It has a gorgeous even colour!

When I first purchase my Speedy I wouldn't dare take her out in the rain but now that I had her for sometime I do since it's my everyday bag.
I so want to be like you, my intention is to use my Sologne without a care in the world, but the reality is, I really don't want to get the lovely creamy vachetta stained just yet. I will wait for it to patina a bit before being more carefree with it. Right now when its raining I'll stick to my DE speedy.
My mono and DE bags are only a few months old so I only take my DE Speedy out in the rain. For quick trips I just take a pochette with a chain on it. If I had bought a pre-loved I might take it out in the rain but not a new bag no way.
I find if it's not heavy rain I get water marks similar to your first picture, I lightly pat it dry and when it's fully dry I can't even see it anymore. In my opinion rain doesn't effect the vachetta badly, it's when you 'drown' your bag from a water bottle leaking or you place your bag near a wet surface. I've learnt the hard way and after spilling 3 water bottles in my LV I don't carry water around anymore.
I've been an LV fan for a long time, some of my bags are well over 10 years old. I used to think that they were made to go in the rain and that the vachetta was meant to turn darker. I'd use them in rainstorms. Some of those bags I still use, some have just become bags in my closet that I can't part with, but I wouln't carry because the leather is so damaged.
It brings up a good point though, I've been litterally drooling over the CL bag from the Icons collection and I can't pull the trigger because of all the vachetta. I'm concerned about how the bag will look when it starts to patina and what happens if parts of it patina and others do not? Any thoughts?

Your patina still looks somewhat light. At what point does vachetta become more impervious to rain? I'm assuming it's okay as long as it's not totally virgin vachetta and has at least a tad color to it? Because your patina still looks pale but the rain didn't leave one water spot. I prefer mono over de but I am too paranoid to use mono in the rain 
I just posted this on the Artsy page, but I'll share the short version here. I used the Apple Leather products and Apple Guarde water repellant spray on my handle. I use the spray every other most or so. She was just caught in a rain storm and came out looking fab!!!
