Using Store Credit vs. Exchange vs. Keeping Item

It's been a couple years since I did my exchange, but what they offered me at the time:

1. An even exchange for same item (90cm for 90cm, etc), OR

2. Store credit in the value of the item in your country

That way, the return is equalized based on how the item is priced in your home country (not in the item value abroad and not according to the amount you paid)

Glad to hear you were able to exchange the item and good reference for me in the future. Thanks for posting.

Careful. I'd ask in your home boutique before you go.
I've seen a boutique refuse an item (shoes) a customer had purchased in Europe as that boutique did not carry that style of shoes. They'd have a hard time selling the shoes as they'd be a one of.

Yes! I forgot to mention that I did call the boutique ahead of time to ensure that it was OK and that the item I was exchanging mine for was available.

So glad to hear you did that.
I felt so sorry for the customer trying to return the shoes as they'd been told they could return them to any boutique. I understand both sides though.

Hi,

Hoping someone can help me with a couple questions regarding returns. If I returned a item, does the SA who I purchased it from lose his/her commission?

And if I use store credit to purchase another item, will the new SA I purchase my new item from receive the commission from the sales (even though it was store credit)?

Thanks in advance and sorry for my confusing questions. :)

If you return an item, the SA you purchased it from will lose commission unless you exchange the item with that same SA. If you use store credit to purchase a new item, the commission will go to the new SA.

Your best bet is to return the item and use the credit with the same SA if you want them to get the credit. Otherwise, the commission will go to the SA who you purchased the new item from, even if its a store credit.

Hi folks,

This is great info. I just bought a Quizz buckle and belt in Paris and then found out the Idem is a reversible buckle.

If I exchange in the US, does anyone know how they handle tax? Do they just even exchange if the retail prices are the same?

Thanks for any info!

I exchanged a bracelet I had purchased in Paris and I was credited the US list price for it towards my new purchase and tax paid on the difference. No dealing with VAT or exchange rates in effect at the time of my original purchase, just the US list price for the same item.

Thanks! So the tax is only on the difference? In other words, they issue the credit with the local store's tax?
