US Customs discussion - airports, importing

I will be returning with some H loot (hopefully) to the US in a couple of weeks and I have GE. These days there is not even a form, they just take a picture. Should I approach the officer and volunteer the information? In the past I just took a chance walking out but I am getting too old for that. I would rather keep my boxes and pay some tax instead of frantically repacking after getting the refund and potentially loosing GE.
You can declare in the GE app before you even get off the plane

Bumping this up to hear what people who travel back will be paying at customs if they “honestly” self declare.
It supposed to hit on April 5th.
Please keep us in the loop!
My experience is generally along the lines of @textilegirl (but I do not shop much abroad). The few times I’ve been charged previously , it’s been like 3% (I think bc customs would rather not do too much math)

As per @Bdbunny , 10% starting on April 5, then up to 25 by the end of the month?

Europe is supposed to be at 20%.
It supposed to start with a 10% baseline on most goods on the 5th then 20% for Europe from the 9th.
I have also paid between 3 to 5% when self declaring.

I think I read 20% by the end of the month. Possibly. Maybe. Who knows.
