I don't mind it either. Post Office, Fedex, UPS are all within a ten minute drive for me and I find it more convenient to make that drive than to wait at home for the delivery or re-delivery.
I love this option. I use it for FedEx and UPS. I use UPS MyChoice and I haven't paid any membership fee. My lobby has been undergoing renovation forever and workmen and deliveries are coming and going. If I buy anything even reasonably expensive I reroute the packages (unless they are too heavy) to the nearest pickup site. Then everything is done at my convenience and I think is more secure. Pickup places are close to my apartment.
I send many gifts to my nephew and his family and he lives in a suburban neighborhood where packages are left on the front door step. He uses this option on any gift for security reasons, especially during Christmas. He drives right by the pickup places so its no extra work.
