My jeweller has diamonds in a cut called "Flanders cut" which might be an idea if you like the shape of Asscher cut diamonds. I think that these have the same shape as the Asscher cut but with more brilliance. Take a look here: www.flanders-cuts.com

I am going to vote for a round. I didn't care for many vintage cushions and while the AVC at GOG is pretty it's not my thing. I loved the modern ones that I checked out.

But rounds sparkle the most.

I think GOG might sell something similar to a Flanders, you can also look at a Square H&A.

Kashmira & ame, square H&A is pretty but it looks too similar to Radiant I have. I want something really different...... When I saw cushion, and compared it to round cut yesterday, cushion looked much much smaller than round.....so I'm leaning towards Round or Oval right now. I'm going to see some more stones tomorrow..........

I love cushions and rbs. I think cushions have more of their weight at the bottom than a rb so they look smaller at the same carat weight.

I have a 2.4 RB it is an excellent stone and I love it, but sometimes I wish I would have gotten the cushion.

Would you pair it with a band or wear it by itself? That might factor into your decision process.

How fun for you! :yahoo:

Keep us posted.

momma22, your ring must be stunning! I know what you mean by wanting different shape, this will be my 3rd upgrade......

I have a thin eternity ring, that's what I'm planning to wear with....I think it's plain/simple enough to go with any rings....

Norman Silverman which is carried by several retail stores around the country has a good selection of cushion cut diamonds if you are interested. http://www.normansilvermandiamonds.com/

There's always Leon Mege and Harry Winston ;)

I myself have a cushion cut halo for my upgrade and I love it! But if I do get another upgrade in the future, I will go back to a RB (without halo). I feel that a RB is more blingy!

If you are going for 3-3.5 ct., I vote for round. It has the best wow effect for that size. A three stone (pear shape side stones), or a micropave solitaire setting would be very pretty.

I really, really love round. For years I thought they were a little boring but when I actually tried many cuts on all at once at I realized that there's a reason more diamonds out there are round brilliants.

OK, I tried on a few 3-3.3ctw Round & Oval Ring today, and I LOVED round! Oval was pretty, but Round sparkled the most! Now I'm on a hunt for the right stone.....looking for Excellent (H&A) cut!
