Hi! Imoline I can not thank you enough for inspiring me this project!

I bought a Brides de Gala from a reputable reseller for a very low price. It has some little stains and flaws. Then I used an emerald dye. I did not take a before pic but I found one of the same scarf on internet. Second pic is my new dip dyed Brides de Gala (look really like an original dip dyed cw of this style) and third pic is my dip dyed collection with 2 I got at the FSH boutique in Paris (90 grey Couvertures... and 140 red Les clefs).

Thank you so much Imoline! And thank you all for letting me share:D

I am in awe of these and Imoline's too. Outstanding creative work at work here! What a great thread!

I just did a "do-it-myself" home dye job with indigo on a Tigre Royal 90 silk. The original color was pink, gold, and white. It was an old scarf with stains, pulls, and a hole, so I got it at a very low price. I purchased it specifically for this "experiment", and didn't really care if it didn't turn out well, but I think it looks pretty good.

You have really inspired me to try this! Just looking now for a suitable "before"...

Good job Imoline! I love what you did with Astrologie, it looks amazing.
I'm thinking of dd-ing a Pont Neuf with ivory background that is in appalling condition with huge brownish stains, I don't have the slightest idea about which color of dying to choose, any ideas?

Actually, I am thinking pale gold, or even the old tea trick...

New to this dying business, I just found this:

What kind of dyes are you all using, and do you steam the scarf to "set" it?

I did a lot of research about dyes before I took the plunge, and it scared me to read about the simmering water, chemicals and processes used and the effect they might have on silk. So I opted for natural indigo crystals. They dissolved instantly, required no hot water, and no other chemicals. Only a thorough wash with shampoo afterwards, and a lot of rinsing!! I thought about Woolite, but shampoo was recommended because it's formulated to clean protein fibers like silk (and hair ;)).

I purchased my indigo crystals from Dharma Trading (no affiliation!). They're the pre-reduced kind, so they don't require any chemicals to dissolve. The instructions say you need soda ash to set the dye, but you don't. After washing, I just rinsed with white vinegar to set it.

I was so inspired by the DIY dip dyes in this thread that I have to say that I just purchased a fifth-hand (it's WAY beyond second-hand, LOL) carré JUST so I can dip dye it. I'm so excited. I can't wait for it to get here!

I'm new to Hermés silk scarves and only have one other [90 cm] at this point because I only developed an interest in them back in May, but I already have my birthday, anniversary, AND Xmas presents picked out! :p

The hard part is deciding which color to dye it!

Brides de gala...
imoline, looking at what you already did, these should be stunners! Your Mémoire is the first issue with the Jacques Prévert's card. A collector. What colors are you thinking of??

Thank you Anfang, well I was thinking orange for the Bride de Gala , (in fact the magic is working right now), and I don't know for the "mémoires", do you think I should keep it like that ?
because the dye run are pretty important, I was thinking red, or green .....but this one will be hard to do ... because it has so much different colors...
