Hi, I wasn't sure if this was the correct thread to use as my DIY isn't exactly made using Hermes, but was made for a Hermes Lindy, so I hope it is alright to put it in here.
I always use purse organisers in my bags, mainly to protect them and because I hate 'ratting around' to find things. I usually just buy them from the same seller on ebay and get the size and colour to match the particular bag. I did buy one in blue for my Lindy, but in order to get a wide enough one I had to get a diaper bag size and fold over the top. It was OK, but was still a little narrow and not quiet wide enough.
So I had the idea to make one to fit. I was first thinking of doing it in silk or something more exotic than just plain fabric, then I decided to make it using leather. So off to the leather shop, and although I couldn't get a blue close to Blue Jean, I picked a darker shade. While I was there I also saw a small skin that was a perfect 'Hermes Orange, so just had to have that as well.
Armed with a roll of freezer paper, and a tape measure it only took a few minutes to whip up a pattern and soon had it cut out and ready to sew. I decided to use the orange to pipe it, maybe a bit 'overkill' but the colour was just so yummy and the colour difference does define the pockets.
I made the pockets higher on the sides, and scooped them lower in the middle as when hand held the Lindy does fold inwards. I put a piece of mylar plastic covered in quilting batt between the 2 layers on the base, which firms it up and makes it sit well.
I am happy with the end result, and everything fits well and is easy to access, also I just love the feel of the soft leather. I even went back and brought some more of the blue leather, and now I am planning to make a hooded jacket, as we are coming into winter here and thought a blue jacket would be a change from my trusty old black one.
I took a few photos, I will post them, hope they come out alright as I am not the most 'tech savy' when it comes to things like that.
