HI all!
It's been another year of love with my Vechetta Caroline. My New Years tradition is to care for my caroline it seems.
This year, I took a different approach. I used the tweaked method outlined in this post.
http://forum.purseblog.com/coach/caring-for-your-vachetta-borough-style-854632.html I love this post. Hats off to Karman the OP for all the time and care she took to share. Her post is totally worth reading if you care for your leather carefully.
But before I get started, the Kote - the plastic/rubber finish in the leather's edge was peeling off this fall and the nice ladies in rescue and rehab showed me how to fix it. I used this product from
amazon http://www.amazon.com/Fiebings-Edge..._sim_ac_2?ie=UTF8&refRID=0E6W8T736JG2B9D6TDYM
It was a bit scary to apply, but I used a eye shadow applicator (the foam type) it and worked like a charm. If anyone else needs to do this, you need to sand the leather with sand paper before you apply the Kote. The leather needs to be smooth
This is what I did on new years day.
(1) Used magic eraser on the bag to clean off any dirt. A lot came off. I use it throughout the year on the bag.
(2) Use Cadillac Boot & Shoe that Karman recommended. Never heard of it before. I always used Apple products. It's a conditioner. If you ask me Apple or Coach seemed just as good.
(3) Used this amazing product called Obenauf's LP (leather protector)
(4) Two coats of apple spray
Here are photos of the two products from Karmen.

Couple things to note. Obenauf is a scary product to apply. It goes on spotty for sure. And you really need to rub it in. It's texture is a bit like lip balm. you need to put it on your hands, warm it up and then massage it into the leather. The bag was soaked it right up. It goes on with some spotting. But dries even. It takes 24 hours to dry. It's an awesome product. Nothing is getting through that product. Water beads when you put it on your bag after using the product. It did not really darken the bag. It might darken new vechetta though. It does leave a thin and beautiful shine on the leather. It's just barely there. It's really nice.
After 24 hours, I put on a coat of apple spray and the bag soaked it right up. I then put on another coat of apple spray and the bag did not soak it right up and it was very uneven in color. I was upset, but it looked better the next day and a week later, the bag is even again. I guess the Vechetta was no longer thirsty and the apple spray needed to evaporate.
Now, it's amazing and beautiful again. Here is a photo. Enjoy
