Trying to love my Jumbo...

Hi, I think you look great with the jumbo.
Yes, it is a kind of "bold" look, but very modern & cool in my opinion.

I also have one jumbo in my collection and I love to wear it and I am also petite, so the same look. I also find the jumbo huge looking compared to the M/L. But, hey, that is why the design was called JUMBO ;-) It is intended to look jumbo ;-)

The M/L is for me the “ultimate classic” though, shape- and sizewise- and anything larger or smaller looks different. So for me the bit “overwhelming” look is not so much dependent on the height of the one who carries it.
However, as I usually do not need the space of the jumbo (I downsized in the last years and carry only essentials with me), I wear my m/l and minis more often nowadays.
But I would never sell my only jumbo but will continue to carry her once in a while if I need to carry more with me or just for a different look.

As you have already M/Ls in your collection why not keeping one larger flap for those cases you want to go for a different look or need the space?
Just my 0.02, in the end you have to feel comfortable with your bag. So go with your heart!

Maybe we should start a thread for petites or "does this proportion look good on me?" If we go the "proportion" route, that's inclusive of all heights.

I tried on the jumbo (I'm 5' 2") at Saks in Greenwich, CT. The SA just stood at attention until I said something about the look. kinda funny, she finally gave some kind of positive response, then I knew I couldn't trust HER judgement (I was shopping alone at the time). I looked like a little kid running away from home. [emoji6]

I may be in the minority here, but I think the bag can look great on the OP. It's just a matter of confidence. I've seen shorter women pull the jumbo off nicely and have no doubt the OP can do the same.

Now if the jumbo doesn't fit the OP's needs, then that's a whole other story. If the jumbo does fit the OP's needs, then just add a little confidence.

The bag looks a little big but you also have to consider the angle of the pic. The bag is POW up close in the frame. Of course it is going to look big. I've said before that I never understand this whole "too big" thing when Jumbos aren't even big bags. Plenty of petite girls rock their Jumbo's or even Maxi's. BUT it really is YOUR own personal preference. If you don't feel comfortable, no amount of people telling you it looks good is REALLY going to sway you. It will go back into your closet.

In your case, since you have tried twice perhaps it is the size that is bothering you and not the color as you thought before. Before regretting selling again maybe go to the store and try on the M/L or maybe even a reissue 226 and see if you like it better on you and if it still accommodates your lifestyle and what you want to use the bag for. Good luck deciding.

As someone mentioned, I think it is about the angle of the pic. I think jumbo looks on everyone. So does the WOC, mini etc. it's about how you style it and what occasion you want to use it for. Jumbo is my perfect everyday, weekend and work bag (chanel on my shoulder + a laptop bag in my hand gives an amazing professional look IMO).

Jumbo was my first Chanel. After I purchased it I thought I made a mistake because I couldn't wear it crossbody. Or it wasn't as light as mini or woc or ML. Since I accepted that the jumbo simply isn't a crossbody bag, I love it. I cannot imagine not having it in my collection.

I :smile1:agree with most of the ladies on the topic. I feel the bag just overwhelms you..
I also own the jumbo, and I wore it last night for some Black Friday shopping. Now I know that was a mistake, I guess I put too much inside of it and by the end of the night it had my shoulder on fire!!!
IMO, I would try to sell it and get the M/L instead..

Maybe it's the proportion of the jumbo that slightly bothers me?

Well, are you a small or big bag kinda girl? As much as I find small bags convenient for nights out, I much prefer larger bags for daily use because it can fit more. Also, I like knowing that if I need to stash a sweater or an umbrella in there that I'm not using while out, it can accommodate.

If your collection mostly consists of small bags then I doubt you will ever get into a Jumbo in any color. Sell the grey one and get the M/L in black...it might be the answer you're looking for. Good luck!

I'm really thinking hard about my red jumbo so this thread resonates. I don't use it much and this quote struck a chord because my bags are mostly small because that's more my vibe. I have other Chanels but they're all smaller. The jumbo is the largest and the least used. I'm torn. I'd hate to sell it and regret because I LOVE Chanel in red but I only have a red woc. If I do let it go it will be for a red boy, ML or a rectangle mini.

Agreed! This is me with my double flap beige clair jumbo. I'm only 5 feet tall and 116 lbs. I personally think it works for me although some of you might disagree but its all about personal preference. I borrowed a friends M/L caviar flap for a wedding and it was just too small (for me). I really had to down size and I hated that.

Do you love the bag even though you don't use it as much? I have a lot of bags that I love that don't get used much because 1) *ahem* I have way too many  2) I like knowing that I own them and I can use it anytime I want 3) I don't want to lose any money if I sell.

The only bags that I would consider selling are the ones that I really have a strong, negative reaction to when I use it. I recently sold a gorgeous Tory Burch bag that I drooled over for months because it was just so heavy and the functionality wasn't there. I personally wouldn't sell just because I don't use it much IF I happen to really love the bag.

If you feel like you enjoy using your red jumbo the few times that you do, then I personally wouldn't sell it. It's a part of your Chanel collection...it doesn't mean it has to go just because its not used as much. I hope that makes sense...lol

I love it because it's a red Chanel but I can see me downsizing to a smaller red so I get the fix still in a smaller size. To me I feel not using is money sitting there. It's tough because I see it on others and it looks amazing but on me it feels awkward and too big like it's almost too much Chanel if that makes any sense? I don't feel like at about my others because they're smaller. I don't honestly know WHAT to do. My HG list from small has always been a black Chanel and a red Chanel.

It's funny how on me I feel it looks too big and on others I see in person it looks great and turns my head - hence wondering if I'll regret selling.
