Prior to Covid SIP, many reputable Japanese resellers shipped via EMS. I sometimes paid no customs although the full value was always declared. In the fine print, these japanese resellers explained that they could not legally under declare value or mark as a gift. During Covid SIP and afterwards, resellers shipped via DHL. I would sometimes be required to pay 10% (in theory customs plus applicable state sales tax), with the 800 USD exemption outlined by @nicole0612, prior to the delivery of the package. This is my recollection, which may be imperfect, and of course only my personal experience

Note: when a response cautions not to do x,y,z, for example, ask for lower declared value, it may not be intended as any kind of judgment, but rather a general caution, written not just to the instant query but also to anyone reading the public thread. Most of those who answer, have answered the same questions many times before, and are trying to be as comprehensive as possible. It is disheartening (even if a particular comment is not directed at me personally) to read criticism of a post as judgmental or presuming. I am not directing this statement at any one poster in this thread, as I’ve found this issue recently on other threads, namely NY shopping thread and unpopular opinions.
You are a wealth of helpful information, and I appreciate how you always jump in to provide advice to us. You have helped me more than once. I think sometimes words get misinterpreted both ways when in writing. I am like you, and I tend to provide more information rather than less, even if it is not specifically directed at a person, because I know that people will read these threads through Internet searches or through forum searches and they may find something that they were wondering even if they were not the person who originally asked the question.

Thank you! The feeling is mutual :flowers:

Hi All,

I wanted to know if some of you have bought from Amore Vintage Japan. How reputable is this reseller/company? Thanks in advance.
Yes I have bought several items from them and been very happy with the service and of course my bags. The condition descriptions are exacting (although I have noticed that photographs can skew quite warm/bright sometimes). I’ve told a story probably upthread (but I’ll repeat it for ease of reference), of when I once bought a K32 when the shipping department picked up a tiny scuff on the front of the bag that they did not think was adequately disclosed in the condition description and photos. They emailed me with PROFUSE apologies, further photos and the offer of a full refund. I went ahead with the purchase. I was impressed that everyone who touches the bag has a positive commitment to ensure that the customer is receiving exactly what has been described. They ship quickly with (IME) DHL or FedEx - the little delivery timeline that they show in the bag entries is accurate in my experience. Plus they usually have an interesting range of vintage and discontinued bags, I’m looking forward to visiting their bricks’n’mortar stores when I am next in Tokyo.

Thank you for replying. Your comments are so helpful. I’ve been looking for an HAC32 for some time now. So when i discovered Amore Vintage Japan today, i decided to just browse. And then there it was, the exact specs I was looking for. So i’m going to buy it sometime today after work. Hopefully no one takes it before me. I appreciate you taking the time to share your experience. I’ll lost pics later. 🙃

You’re welcome! Things don’t generally move super quickly from what I can see, except chèvre in great condition, especially sellier which doesn’t usually hang around too long on the site. Looking forward to seeing your pics! I just received something from them yesterday as it happens, and will post pics once it’s through authentication.

What a coincidence! I guess my item will arrive in a week or so. This will be my third preloved purchase…well second because i returned the other one. I don’t know why I waited so long to buy preloved. It makes hermes hunting so much more fun.

Late reply but I'd like to add my experience, I purchased a preloved bag in December 2023. It was a smooth transaction until the bag got held up with FedEx for clearing/broker fees (FedEx wanted me to fill in paper work for who would be the import broker so it could be cleared at customs). Luckily the customer service staff were pretty good and helped me deal with the issue. The bag looked much better than the photos. I'd definitely buy from them again though.

Looking forward to seeing what you purchased from them!

Hi everyone! I had thought about posting this under thrift store finds, but I thought my post might be more appreciated here! I did not need a tote, but could not resist!! With tax she cost me $16.25. I love the smoochy embossed leather, the handles, and the lining feels like my Gucci, but the pocket is extra padded with little metal beads. I sadly saw that she was made in China, so has to have been made after 2013. But the quality seems top notch. The leather is slightly worn around the edges and the bottom but so am I! She's been well loved. Can anyone tell me more about this newest addition to my collection?

Hey Everyone - does anything have experience with the following Resellers for BRAND NEW (fresh from the boutique) Hermes Birkins/Kellys?

1) Bags By Appointment
2) PrivePorter
3) Threads Styling
4) Madison Avenue Couture
5) JaneFinds
6) Fashion_Finders_NYC
7) Michelle Lovelace
8) Maastic Luxury

Also is there a chance we can have a running list of Reputable Resellers going on this thread or is that not allowed? I feel that might be easier all around.... like the best resellers by country or by affordability or something....
You should add Ann's Fabulous Finds. They do a fantastic job for both buyers and sellers. HTH.
