I think I need to let my Kelly sellier 32 in sombrero leather. I have been really working on cleaning out my closet and I just have way too many bags. I have not used this bag since I purchased it about 6 months ago. Some of you may recall that I purchased three Hermès in rapid succession. I love my chèvre Birkin 30 in Gris tourterelle/rose tyrien, as well as the Kelly 35 Togo, so I will keep those for now.

My question is, should I just sell it back to Fashionphile for 70% of the purchase price? I will be guaranteed to lose money that way. But at least I will have about $8000 of the $11,000 back in my pocket. Or should I try to sell it on eBay or something? That is a lot of work and a lot can go wrong. How do people have the most success at recouping the money they have spent on a Hermes bag? Of course, I probably overpaid in the first place since I did not go straight to the Hermes boutique. So is it just guaranteed that I am going to lose a few thousand dollars? Thanks for your advice.

You prob won’t get a higher amount unless
You sell the bag yourself (i.e. eBay or to a friend etc) if you consign, 8k is not that low.

No tips on eBay, as that is too scary for me. Too much chance for something to go
Wrong.

What I am saying is that I bought it from Fashionphile. They will buy it back from me for 70% of what I paid. I won’t have to go through the hassle of trying to sell it, but I will get a few thousand $$$ less than I paid for it. Getting a quote from Ann’s Fabulous Finds is a good idea! Thanks Mrs. Z!

Are you talking about consigning with Fashionphile or doing a buyout? Have you gotten a quote from Ann’s Fabulous Finds?

I would see it back to Fashionphile. If you are not the original purchaser from hermes with a receipt there’s too much of a risk that things can go wrong in a resale IMHO.

Yes, use AFF. They are great to work with. Good Luck!

If you can sell it back for 70% of what you paid
that is the equivalent of selling it for what you paid for it less 30% commission; that is not excessive.
If you try to sell it yourself, you are unlikely to do any better because of dealing costs.
If you have to sell it, the buy-back potentially seems the easiest way; what you loose in money is compensated by speed, the lack of uncertainty and worry.

Yes, that is what I’m afraid of. I will just have to take a loss. I don’t think the bag is doing me any favors just sitting there gathering dust when the money could be used for something else, even if just earning a little interest in the bank or tucked away in my retirement fund. I love and use most of my bags, but this one is too big for evenings and too big to fit in my locker at work, yet too structured and too small for travel.

Ok, fabuleux. Just “like” all of my posts and submit glowing replies to everything I post on TPF. Deal. Haha.
We should start with a meetup in real life over lunch and drinks so we can excitedly discuss all our beautiful bags and future bag purchases with our unlimited funds! I’ll save the bag for then

Or you can just send me the bag as a friendship gift.;):hugs:

Another vote for selling it back to fashionphile. It seems the safest bet and as others have said 30% commission is not out of the ordinary. It's a shame about the money but if you're not using the bag I'd sell it and put the money towards something else, whether savings or something else you'd like to buy.

Hello Hermes Fans,
Does anyone have the experiences to buy from a reseller, on IG ID: hermesseller1?
Your inputs are greatly appreciated Thanks

Hi I believe you can’t find that handle on IG anymore. Like you I was looking for more information on them and they seem legit as their posts goes as far back as 2014. They take regular videos and upload on their stories so it seems to me no one would be so free to do that every other day for years.

Finally I caved when they have the Color and bag I wanted. In the end the deposit was sent via Western Union. Although I voiced out a few times that I do not trust using this method, her ways of convincing overtook me. And alas, they did not sent the bag and went MIA. After I click report account to IG, I can’t find the account now but who knows they might have change their nick or use other accounts to continue their scams.

Rule of thumb, never send money through such channels no matter how legit they sound and I am coming from a very careful and sceptical perspective but it still can happen to me. Lesson learnt! Good luck!

I think their sources vary and you should ask specifically about any bag that interests you and also ask if they have an original receipt. A bag that I inquired about recently was purchased by them at auction and they had no original receipt. I only discovered that by asking very direct questions. For the prices they charge you should know exactly what you are buying. Don’t assume

Thank you so much, EmileH. That's great advice.
