Trusted Hermes Reseller Discussion Thread

I would love to hear more specifics on other great consignment services people have been using! Thinking about selling one of my bigger bags and want to be careful choosing a platform.

I've had great luck so far with FashionPhile (selling, that is). I sold a Birkin (via consign) which I couldn't sell at my local B&M consignment because people here have no idea what Hermes is. I've sold a bunch of H jewelry as well (direct buy-out). I sold a few things to Yoogi's also. It's so much easier and more reliable than the eBay route for me....

Thank you for reply! I thought FP did buy out only, didn't know you could consign with them. Did you get a bit more by consignment compared to buy-out? Did they quote for both options?

I specifically asked them for both buy-out and consign on my Birkin, and given the % difference would add up to a larger amount (assuming it sold before going on sale), opted for consign. It sold in under 30 days. Everything else has been buy-out.

I sent some stuff to AFF (some jewelry) last May (!!!) and it still hasn’t sold, so I’ll probably ask for it back. They aren’t nearly as good to work with.

I am amazed how difficult AFF is to navigate. I am looking to purchase a B30/35 in new condition, and searching on that site is frustrating. FP, Y, TRR, Js, and others are far easier. I can't understand how AFF has fallen so far behind from a website standpoint. After reading that several tPF'rs are having difficulty selling on that site, I can tell you, I have difficulty buying from that site!

 the irony.
After seeing your message here, I went to the site and couldn’t agree more. It’s hard to see what’s available as there isn’t much policing of taking off those items that have been sold. They should get a real web master and keep the site updated.

Knowing selling trends and setting prices accordingly is an important part of why we pay consignment shops. Every bag has a price at which it will sell.
Umm, I did not disagree with that so no need to quote me. Setting a price to sell as a professional consignment shop and being hard to sell in this trend for smaller bags are distinct. A realist recognizes both.

And I think that’s why if they get the price wrong to start your item is going to sit forever and probably not sell. When a new item launches at least it’s at the top of the page or in the daily emails. If people look and see it’s overpriced chances are they aren’t going to notice when AFF finally drops the price. It will be buried somewhere in the crazy website.

No one said you did. Sorry if it came across that way.

I see the issues as related.

I understand your frustration. I, too, cringe at the difficulty with the searches. AFF needs to redo their entire site.
