Has anybody noticed recently that resellers on eBay have been relisting Kelly bags that haven't sold at even higher prices for the next go round?
Seems counterintuitive....if the bag does not sell, why increase the price?

Hermesaholic I think you are on to something. I used to see so many more Kellys on boutique shelves. Also recently read something on one of the reseller sites claiming that European women are now preferring Kellys thus making them harder to find now (I thought maybe they were justifying their outrageous asking price). This makes me sad because i prefer Kellys and it used to be nice to spot them once in a while.

There isnt ever a kelly in sight in the boutiques these days...........

I could be wrong, but I have the sense that European women have always liked the kelly a bit more...

I like the looks of the kelly but adore the ease of the birkin. Would not turn my nose up at either!!

I just finished a fabulous transaction with our fellow tPF'er Cheapfrillsnorth. She is a really lovely person and just wonderful to work with. We had some challenges in getting the bag shipped and cleared through customs but she was incredibly attentive and responsive and I didn't worry for a moment...and now I am the very happy owner of a new gris perle birkin:smile1:

Here's the thing...
If the bag did not sell the first time, what makes the seller think that by raising the price the chances are increased (to sell)?
I watched several last week...over priced (IMO) starting bids for bags over 10 years old.... After the round of increases (one seller even increased her shipping) I decided to just pay 2K more for a brand new Kelly....It's on order, thank goodness.....

i know what gives? (i do speculate that there is a shift --because of the over exposure of the birkin --to kellys?)

I do not think the price increases on relisting are only prevalent on H Kellys ... some sellers are increasing their base prices on all items since fleabay introduced fee charges on shipping costs as well as the already extortionate and increased eBay costs.

For those that are not aware, eBay have now levied a fee on the shipping costs charged by a seller as well as the fees already charged by Paypal on receiving funds. Therefore sellers pay double-bubble (both fleabay and paypal) fees on the TOTAL cost received. Previously a seller paid fleabay final seller fees (as well as listing fees) for the ebay sale itself and PayPal charged a fee on the total amount received ... fleabay now also get a chunk of the shipping fee charged:cursing::rant::mad:

If a seller increases their shipping fees, to most buyers who see a charge of USD 100 but know actual shipping may only cost USD 90, Buyers feel aggrieved and overcharged and will more than likely mark a seller down in terms of shipping costs in the DSR's. However, the seller often subsidises the actual shipping costs, given the paypal charges (which are charged on the total amount received by a seller) and now the new eBay fees on shipping amount received! I guess some sellers are trying to cover their bases so that they don't get marked down on shipping costs

Just another point of view
