Sure - just as bad if they are erroneously giving negative or positive feedback, erroneous as in not reflective of the reality, or as a favour to a friend, or to be malicious or even helpful. At the end of the day, any potential buyer has to evaluate for him or herself what kind of feedback is out there, positive or negative. What is negative (or equally, positive) to someone might not be perceived that way by someone else.

At the end of the day, it seems just as pointless to get upset because someone has a bad review, in their personal experience, as if they have a good experience someone takes issue with.

It all has to be weighed against your own personal risk tolerance and expectations.

I don't come to this thread that often. It was interesting to me that on the day I completed a very positive experience with Jane, and was about to post that information, someone had just posted a negative comment based of what they'd been told by others.

I promise, Misti, it doesn't upset me in the least. :-)

CG, I trust your feedback because I've come to know you (and I know it doesn't upset you :smile1:). But equally ... because you had a positive experience with a given seller doesn't mean someone might not have had a negative one. One doesn't discount the other - I don't see how it can.

And I find it equally interesting when people come to this thread and consistently rave about a single seller (no seller in mind, just generalizing). It does make me wonder, "Were they put up to it? Is this feedback trustworthy?" I would personally take that with a grain of salt, a large one.

Again, I think feedback of any kind is a guideline. I would want to know why the positive/negative, is it something I would value to the same extent and would I possibly come to the same conclusion.

Totally agree, Misti! No question one doesn't discount the other. I guess the point I was trying to make is that the feedback that has gravitas for me, is that which comes from someone with first hand experience. And, even then, as you suggested, I'd want the particulars.

Good conversation, my dear! I've enjoyed it! :smile1:

Anyone have experience with an eBay seller entitled: "newyork.miami;" eBay store name is: "5è AVENUE." The seller has a couple lovely carres up right now, but I am so fearful of eBay I think I dare not bid/buy unless someone has successfully dealt with the seller before.

A few suggestions. Read comments by authenticators on the Bag thread...they are so helpful. Use the TPF reseller guide. PM members who have had successful transactions with resellers. If you have patience, lots of it, establish a relationship with an SA at a boutique if you can. That's the safest way.

Thank you so much for this information. Can you provide me with places I can purchase an Authentic Hermes Birkin? I am looking to buy a new one and need to know of some reputable and trusted sellers. Thank you for all of your help.

Mary
