Treatment in Hermes Stores

I have good experience in Hermes at Capri- small store and Florence- slightly bigger. I wanted mini Evelyne , Kelly but both store do not have any so just bought a Herbag at Capri and H belt at Florence, both SA are just sweet but only sad about the stock . LOL

I like the Florence H, and I like shopping at smaller European H stores in general as they always feel so quaint, but you are right, the inventory is rarely exciting.

It's really passive aggressive to assume that H employees are "sizing" people up and says more about the people who feel snubbed than the staff in my opinion. Some of the most VIP of VIP at this store roll in to the store in old sneakers and yoga pants.

Projecting about snubbing that may or may not have happened doesn't seem to be helpful to the people reading this thread IMO. It conveys a message that you need to dress fancy or pretend to be someone else to get service in H which is simply not true.

You can't make a blanket statement about treatment at all H boutiques, because at some boutiques they DO judge you when you walk in. I am a longtime collector of H and have had many different experiences over the years, but usually I am dressed nicely and have some H on/with me when I shop.

DH is away for business and was just staying in Beverly Hills, and he popped into H for a surprise gift for me (still don't know what it is, but I think a 140 silk). He was dressed very casually (I don't know what, but he does not dress sloppy - probably a white tee and cargo shorts) and he called to tell me how surprised he was at the way he was treated there and at Brooks Brothers (where half his wardrobe is from....and we know the owner of BB very well). It was like the scene in "Pretty Woman"!

I can only chalk it up to the local, ahem, "culture"...especially in New York, they do not judge you by how you dress. I remember when we went to pick up my 35B, he went in sloppy On Purpose just to see how the SAs would respond - and of course he was treated perfectly (although they all know me). But that is clearly not true everywhere.

Hi there, I'm sorry your DH was treated poorly and it's certainly up to you guys if you choose to shop where you don't feel the service is great. I wouldn't shop at H if I didn't feel that I was being treated well and fortunately I've only had great experiences. I do realize that not everyone has a great experience at H, like any store there are bound to be people who don't do their jobs well.

I hope you enjoy whatever surprise your DH got for you and you continue to receive great treatment from your home stores!

That was a shame, BBC because I received nothing short of excellent service at the BH store even though it is not my local H. Yes, I carried a B, which was an SO and probably a CSGM, too. So, I was dressed in H but I would hope that your DH would have the same superior service that I received there regardless of what he was wearing. Kudos to him for making a purchase for you, I probably would have walked out empty-handed.

I think he was sort of amused....this is not the sort of thing that bothers him - and maybe it fit his stereotype of BH. I think BB was actually worse (ha! Wonder if he'll say something) and reinforced his opinion that it's a BH issue. NY and LA are completely different cultures, almost like different countries! He fit in better when we went to Paris (there we had tourists stopping and asking HIM for directions!) Anyway, when he gets home later I'm going to find out what the heck he was wearing.

He was probably determined to leave with something....I received some very disappointing news while he was away and he wants to cheer me up.

I am not quite sure if good or bad service is dependent on what you are wearing. I had a terrible experience at the Beverly Hills store and I was dressed in head to toe chanel since I had just come from a fashion show. It is the only negative experience I have encountered in any H store throughout the world. I think there are wonderfully professional and courteous people in the industry as well as those who are not. Sadly, chancing upon an SA who is rude or having a rotten day, colors what should be a pleasant experience. Like any industry, there are lovely people who will provide stellar service, and those who won't. Always, I save my business for the boutiques that provide the type of experience I value. So sorry to hear her DH had an unpleasant shopping experience, but I do hope the H gift is lovely. Best wishes!

Thanks for sharing this, BBC and kudos to your DH for being amused. That is a good reaction to this kind of experience, IMO. What a sweet DH and sorry that you had disappointing news.

This is absolutely the right reaction - the only thing you can do is be amused I think... life is too short to let such things bother you IMO.

I hope things will look up for you (especially in light of a gorgeous new H surprise!) after your disappointing news - life is a roller coaster but it's so important to have faith that things will work out for the best!:smile1:

Thank you, Maedi and libertygirl - if it was about me, it would be one thing, but when it's something about your child, it's heartbreaking. Not a health issue, thank goodness, but I have a child who works very hard and makes certain sacrifices, and someday I know it will pay off. I'm not telling DS, but having DH so far away made it much harder, trying to be cheerful and not being able to discuss it or vent at all. That's why DH really didn't care about what happened at BH - the ridiculous stuff is so unimportant so as to be barely noticeable at all.

Anyway, he did very well!!! Almost got me the BH limited edition, but wound up with an actual keeper (very impressive [emoji122][emoji106][emoji122], he gave me the receipt too because he knows me) Tapis Persans, love this cw:

He absolutely did do well! What a beauty

As for your child, I can't say I've been there but I have had family members who seem to have had more than their fair share of bad luck. It's such a helpless feeling at times but I always remember (and try to pass along) one of my favourite quotes: It's not how many times you get knocked down that count, it's how many times you get back up

Sending lots of love to your family! :hugs:

DH picked a beauty and you will always remember his support. Wear it in happiness :smile1:

I went into my local H store last year because I'd bought a Kelly lock watch off eBay and it wasn't working. I found the lady who served me to be a little blunt, but definitely not rude, and I admit it may have been as I was self conscious about being there when I couldn't afford anything.

Anyhow, my watch was shipped off to the watchmaker for assessment, and I continued to receive calls from a lovely SA with the progress (even when they temporarily lost my watch :nogood: - don't worry though it was found again). I can't fault their customer service in that department, as they flew my watch around the world trying to get it fixed.

I think in the future I would be much more confident and comfortable going in and browsing.

Yesterday marks the second time I visited my local store and was ignored. The security guard actually asked me if I needed help, and I said thank you I will ask the Associate. There was no one in the store! It just leaves such a bad taste in my mouth.
My first time at H years ago, I was approached by the security guard too - not rudely, but just asking if I needed help. I remember I was wearing a Coach bag then, having come from work. He directed me to an SA after I told him I was looking for a necklace and she turned out to be one of the best SAs I've worked with and the security guard became good friends with me as well.
Out of this random "pairing" - there were several SAs available to help in store - but he directed me to the best one - I got numerous beautiful H goodies and 3 Bs. So I'll be the first one to say - let the security direct my way!!! :)
