Touching or moving other people's handbags without permission?

I do think it's rude especially if there were other free seats. However, talking more generally, I agree with those who said that it's really annoying when people put their bags on chairs in crowded places! I wouldn't move someone else's bag though but I would kindly ask if the seat's available... Also, I think that some people don't really get the idea that a bag is a personal thing that should not be touched without permission. It happened to me a few times but I didn't get upset at all because I knew that the person who did it didn't have a bad intention, it's just not a big deal for some people...

she should have just asked...

OR if she really had to, put it somewhere nice, NOT the floor! She had no manners and class.

I totally get OCD with my bags, I don't like people touching mine. :)

One time I was shopping in a Chanel boutique in Bloomies. An SA from another boutique was "floating" and came in to help there.
Anyway, I was trying on a bag, so I kind of hid the bag I had brought in, so people wouldn't start trying it on (it was a Chanel also.) because that has happened.

Anyway, the SA says, oh, I'll get your bag! And I'm like no, no, thats quite alright! and she INSISTS lol. She then proceeds to grab it like a caveman, while squashing it, I was aghast, lol. I'm trying to be polite. She carried from the very top of the bag, squashing and pinching the bag from the flap, making a huge crease in the top....
I have no idea why she didn't just carry it from the chain?
I didn't comment but I was so mad! I ran outside and inspected the bag LOL

It's kind of funny though cuz that is kind of OCD lol

No how, no way:nogood:! Since I was a little girl my grandmother always told me you never touch another woman's pocketbook. I'll admit I've wanted to pet a few lol as a fellow handbag enthusiast but I would never be rude enough to walk up and paw someones bag. If a friend or something asked me to move their bag or if they got a new one of course that would be different but as far as strangers/acquaintances, no way.

yeah that happened to me a few years back in a bar, one min my new fendi spy bag was sat next to me on the bench next to the bar, within a second it was on the floor moved by a vile woman who resembled a yeti not only did she move it onto the floor, but into the only part of the floor that was damp!!!! spilt drink obviously!!!
i got very angry!! im a new yorker forgive me!!lol and needless to say she walked away with shame!!
my spy had to go to fendi for cleaning, now my bag either sits on my lap or on my hook i carry!!!!

i wouldn't be bothered by it too much as long as I know that person,if it's moved just a few feet away, or they let me know afterwards if its moved far away. I understand that sometimes, my bags may be in the way.

I do mean, moved by a stranger... but I probably won't move it even if it is my friend's.

No way.I would've asked if I could have the seat/if someone is planning to sit there. I would be pretty upset if someone placed my handbag on the floor in a public area.

Actually she didn't seem that bothered - she has a dog so maybe she doesn't worry about chewing. I probably would have moved it if it wasn't designer, but I'd never been that close to a Prada before!

So is a matter of not touching expensive things or respecting property in general? In your previous comment you said "no way was I going to move someone else's bag." then you say you would move it if it wasn't designer...someone's belongings should be valued regardless of the price tag, ya know?

I’m a person who would not sit on a chair if it had someone’s stuff on it. I would try to find another seat if available. If it was the last chair available, then I would ask around on who it belonged to and if I can sit there since it’s unoccupied. I have joint/feet pain so I need to sit. I can’t stand for too long.

And if it happened to me, I would also go across the room and intercept it before it goes on the floor. I would also be saying something like no…please don’t put it on the floor. But I can’t get too mad as a chair is for sitting. I was not sitting on it. But the floor is gross. I work in healthcare, so you see stuff that gets on the floor that you really don’t want your personal items being on. I would have been okay if it got moved to the closest table/counter top though. Still better than on the floor.
