Manolo Blahnik
Chanel
Via Spiga (inexpensive, always look great, and comforable!)

Wow.. Well my answer has surely changed in just over three years. Especially as i've since become a shoe person to the extreme degree.

Updated list-

Christian Louboutin (fairly simple but HOT)
Miu Miu (sparkly, girly, and fun)
Dries Van Noten (sturdy, reliable, with extreme attention to details)
Marni (modern and full of chunk and platform)
Doc Martens (boots- because some days it's nice to be able to be hard on your shoes. on top of it all they manage to be flattering as well!)

this is definitely personal to me, as i am usually not attracted to 'classic' 'must-buy' kinds of things... but here is my list!

1. chloe (if i could only pick 1 shoe designer, this would be the one!)
2. marni
3. miu miu
4. ann demeulemeester
5. prada (gotta have at least 1 classic on my list :)

i wish that i found Louboutin shoes comfy! they make such pretty, plain styles in bright colors, but i always feel like i'm going to fall over when i try them on.

Heels: The only premier brand I really wear is Louboutin. Otherwise, I tend to prefer mid-end and lower-end brands. I do have a pair of Dolce & Gabbana pumps that I love and will wear until they fall apart. I'd recommend D&G also -- very comfortable, and they make beautiful classic styles in interesting but versatile materials (snakeskin, leopard haircalf).

Flats: Lanvin, Repetto, Tory Burch.

1. Christian Louboutin heels
2. Tory Burch reva flats
3. Loeffler Randall boots
4. Jimmy Choo sandals
5. Reef flip flops (love the arches in the footbed)
I'm not sure that every girl should have those five, but they are my favs and recommendations.
