Historygal,

Which tote do you prefer for work, the Neverfull or the Totally? Thanks!!

Good question...but harder for me to answer. First, on a typical day in the office, I schlep A LOT of stuff to work. Second, I don't carry my bag too far. It goes from my house then into the car, and I have a short walk from the parking lot to the office. I mention this because if I was a person who was taking public transportation or had a long walk as part of my commute that would factor into my decision making process.

Totally pros: I prefer the longer length of the strap drop on this bag. Straps are comfortable and will easily fit over a sweater or coat in colder weather. It has a zip top for increased security/privacy. Although this isn't a primary concern in my situation, but it might be for you. I find the outside pockets a little ugly aesthetically, but extremely useful. I love the inside layout of the pockets. The long pocket will fit a full size wallet, and the other two slip pockets on the other side will fit a phone, keys, etc.

Totally cons: The Totally MM does not fit as much as the Neverfull MM. The outside appearance doesn't have the simplicity and "clean" form as the Neverfull, but that is a matter of preference.

Neverfull pros: The MM size is larger than the Totally MM and will fit everything I take in my Totally AND a 13 inch MacBook Air. My computer will not fit in the Totally with room for everything else I carry. There is a single zip pocket that should be large enough to fit a full size wallet, but it will be a tight fit. Neverfull can be a commonly carried bag, but LV releases several seasonal prints each year if those strike a chord. My mono Neverfull is the Turquoise V from last summer.

Neverfull cons: straps are shorter and can dig into shoulder. If loaded up (especially with laptop) it will be extremely heavy. But like I said earlier I don't walk very far with it. It is an open tote which could be a pro or con depending on your situation.

To sum up this long post, I prefer the look more of the Neverfull and it will hold a larger load, but I tend to reach for the Totally more because the outside and inside pockets are extremely useful and I don't often have to carry my laptop.

Thank you so much! Your reply was extremely helpful! I'm leaning towards the Neverfull GM... I prefer the look of it and from everything I've read on TPF it is a workhorse bag that can hold a ton. I'm a little worried about the shoulder straps digging in if I overload it... But that can happen with any bag… Thanks for all your help!
