A few years ago there were no serial numbers but the new production runs have serial numbers again on some bags.
The tags can say other countries, not just England.

If your bag has a very rich leathery smell, then that can`t be faked, that smell of their leather is unique.
i thought the new production was the one with no serial number.
does anyone know mulberry's email address for general question?
i could not find it on thei website.

hi me_love_purse, I went to Nordstrom today and checked the Mulberry bags for serial numbers. one bag on sale had a number, and one current season full price bag also had a serial number; the other bags did not. unfortunately, I don't know the names of the styles, but I have no reason to believe that Nordstrom would have 2 fake bags floating around, and I'm sure your Saks bag must be okay too. post pictures for us if you're not sure! hope this helps!

so i called saks 2 days a go, and they got back to me saying that yes.... mulberry is not supposed to have serial number on it.
they will take it back.
however, i am super upset now coz they dont have it anymore in stock.
so in the end, i will get my money back, but i will have no mulberry.....:crybaby:

This is really scary.

I bought a black tooled Baywater tote from Saks.com and sure enough, it has a serial number on the back of the little plate inside the bag.

Ahh. It has a very strong leather smell and looks perfect, but this seems so odd.

it is indeed scary.
coz i buy a lot of stuff from saks.
somebody in this forum said that the older mulberry has serial number. i would like to think that saks just has old stock. i emiled mulberry the serial number to see if maybe somehow they can track it down and say "yes it is real, its just old stock". but no.....
they did not reply to me, so i thought "damn... you can even stand by your product".

^^ I emailed Mulberry and they got back to me saying that in the past they did the numbers. Then they stopped, but people seemed to like the numbers ( i guess a feeling of authenticity??). So, they brought back the numbers on the disc. Thus, you'll get a mix of numbered and non-numbered on the market.

The lady said that Saks is an authorized dealer and to feel confident that the bag is authentic.

thats what she said to me too.
but i would have felt better if she could have tracked the number.
but the saks research person called me and said that it is not supposed to have it.
so, i really dont know who to believe anymore.

I couldn't say for certain whether or not your bag is real or not... it's actually pretty difficult to tell sometimes because there are some very good Mulberry fakes out there! However, i have had 2 Mulberry Rosemary bags, one in Oak and one in Lavender, which i bought from very big London department stores (Selfridges and Liberty) and both did not have a serial number on the back of the gold plate and both had labels saying 'Made in China'. I also have a Mulberry Roxanne in mauve and that had a label saying 'Made in Turkey'. Originally i know Mulberry produced its bags in England (in Somerset) but now having talked to many Mulberry bag owners, the tags generally seem to say 'made in China' or 'made in Turkey'.

how do you like the mulberry roxanne in mauve? is the color too pink? can you use it for work for example?

out of fear that i might have fake mulberry from saks, i called them. CS said that the "research" people will contact me in 1-2 days.
aaarrrrrrrrgggggghhhhhhhhh :hysteric:
anybody wants to ease my pain by telling me if mine is fake or not?
pretty please......

Yours is REAL. I bought my Mulberry Rosemary in black darwin on Saks online as well. I was just as worried as you that it was fake b/c of the serial # on the back of the disc. I called Mulberry and they assured me that Saks only sells authentic bags and that they are an authorized dealer. The person at Mulberry also said that they started putting serial numbers again since many buyers were wanting that as a reassurance of getting a real bag. The tag on my bag also says, Made in England, which makes me feel even better. Real Mulberry bags do have Made in China & Made in Turkey. Anyways, I believe yours is real. I know mine is.
