In my life I've never sold/given away any bags, I've just kind of "rotated" bags with mum. Well, mark this day in history, I'm giving away 20 bags. it may sound like a lot but really no big deal. no leather bags, they are all DB signature bags, that I've had for probably close to 15 years, some in "ok" shape, when I was much harder on bags. so I have a few girlfriends who want them, and a few have daughters they can give them to. but GOODBYE to bagss that I don't use.

For me it's not the number it's the fashion element. Too many bags in a short space of time as some styles and colours are more likely to be part of specific trends (which is fine of that also coincides with longterm personal style) it gives the illusion of choice but no real choices long term.
Designers/magazines/shareholders/brands' jobs depend on us falling for their seasonal products, we have to choose only what adds usefulness and pleasure to our own wardrobes.
I've sold 10 bags in 12 months. I designated those bags because I have similar but better quality and in preferable sizes. Most of those bags I've sold were not new or new-ish though, and actually I sold them for more than I paid, perhaps because they are harder to find.
As for the resale value of recent designer bags, obviously supply is too abundant over demand. Good for people buying but not great for sellers of their prized possessions.
Actually, if people think of bags as they would for the rest of our wardrobes, bags actually compare pretty well. Most things you'd have to give away.
If after all 'this', the lesson is learned that bags are an investment in one's style, I strongly believe we need to separate our 'bag-actions' from financial or self-worth then a) the cycle won't repeat and b) not so much angst will be attached to choice.
I've given may many bags away.
Donated many to women's shelter
Donated many more to Goodwill.
Gave all kinds of bags to friends - when I moved - invited them to come 'shop' for the ones they liked best.
Have many off in storage, about ready for another round of donations.
I am a much better giver than seller. Bad for my wallet, but great for others!
Well done immigratty![]()

Congrats on getting rid of 20 bags. That's a huge number and allows for you to refine your collection.....that's what I tell myself when I let bags go
Thanx so much, but it turned out to be more like 60. I started with Canvas bags, which wasn't so hard, but when I moved into leather bags I thought I was going to pass out trying to make decisions on what stays and what goes. But thanx, and I definitely needed to. I had an obscene number of bags, and was rotating thru them all, but some got far more use than others. So I edited out those that I wore more because I felt I had to, than because I really wanted to wear them. I still have a ridiculous number of bags [and about 20 bags on my wish list] but its far less obscene than previously.
