It isn't just celebs whose relationships with their kids are fragmented. Plenty of wealthy parents have nannies to raise their kids and ship them off to boarding schools. Their kids are more like acquaintances. I've also seen where a parent(s) worked his/her a$$ off to build a successful business, and their child feels entitled to be CEO the minute he/she graduates from college. Money aside, regardless if some parents "do everything right", their kids can still turn out to be screwups. Some kids succeed despite their parents being screwups.
I don't know much about TC other than he's wildly successful, works hard, takes risks, and appears to be a nice guy in interviews. One thing about him, he's maintained high success over decades, a bit rare with celebrities. Others that come to mind are Hanks, Freeman, Streep, Nicholson. They were famous in their 20's and maintained A-lister status ages later.
