To Knockoff or not to Knockoff...that is the question?

I have bought some knockoffs recently. I bought a knockoff of the Chanel Maxi Double Flap made by a company called Ainifeel. This company makes various knockoffs and sells them on Amazon. I know the quality isn't as good as a Chanel but I think the bag is beautiful and the leather is very soft. I've also ordered a Teddy Blake Caty which is a Birkin knockoff. I haven't received it but I am anxious to see it.

While I think both the Chanel Double Flap and the Birkin are beautiful bags, realistically I don't think I'll ever have the funds to buy either.

I have a birkin knockoff...having it has made me realise that if there ever was a chance I would own one it would have to be a 35...the one I have is around the 30 size and is not big enough for me.

The same thing happened to me! I ordered a 30 cm from Amazon and it is too small. The one I ordered from Teddy Blake is 14 inches which should be equivalent to the 35 cm.

She is a lovely shade of grey...but the shoulder strap is not much...so am looking for a guitar strap for her...and the other fault is I cant 20180819_092824.jpg fit her over my arm..so have to carry her handbag style.

That is a pretty color. The strap that came with my bag was also rather short and thin. I never thought about getting a guitar strap. That's a good idea!

Well that may be fine, but the Teddy Blake bags are very nice, and they don't say Hermes on them, so it's just like every other designers that make bags that look like another designers bag. Most people can't afford to drop $10,000.00 on a handbag. I paid almost $400.00 for a nylon MZ Wallace bag..so you get what you like.

Yes, that's why the TB bags are knockoffs (subject of thread), not replicas. That is not in dispute. But the Hermes Birkin isn't a knockoff of any Blake bag.

Years ago, my husband and I sold a house and at closing the young buyer had the MK version of the Louis Vuitton speedy. I was carrying my Louis Vuitton Speedy in DE, and she said, "look we have the same bag!" I thought, of course, no we don't. But, her bag made her very happy, and it wasn't a fake, so even though it's annoying that some designers blatantly copy others, it was perfectly fine, in my opinion, that she was happy with her purchase. I would much rather see this then the fakes, obviously. As long as someone is not promoting criminal activity, it is certainly better to buy a style and designer that they can afford, then stretch to buy one that they cannot.

Although I am not opposed to buying pre-loved, I am more annoyed at some of these companies who are setting up in department stores selling luxury bags that have been discontinued and are, in a lot of cases, just dirty. The prices however are close to retail. It is up to people to do their own research, but some of these bags are such a ripoff, and I feel bad for the ones who are being duped by this.

There is a difference between a knockoff (legal) and counterfeit (illegal) Excuse me...replicas.
I have no problem with a knockoff that is more of an homage to the bag. It's done all the time and if it falls within one's budget, why not?
I do have a problem with counterfeits for legal and ethical reasons, however.

Many years ago when I came to the city, I purchased bags from street vendors. I was just starting out of college, low on funds and I needed a purse. There were no Kmarts, Wal-marts, etc. I think somewhere there were Woolworths, but they didn't have to much in the way of purses. I always liked the plain looking classic bags with a turnlock. At the time I was ignorant of Coach bags and counterfeit Coach bags. I wouldn't do that now, for various reasons. But for people who are low-income, I don't think I would castigate them. At least they are trying to live within their means.

I have a Chanel Jumbo flap that I love. That said I am rough on my bags and like to change them out frequently. No way am I ever going to have a stable of Chanel’s or Hermés and maintain my house and lifestyle. I ordered the Anifeel Garden Party 30 inspired bag and couldn’t be happier. I want the 35 now. I was going to stay away from the Birkin styles but I might just need one. Every time I go into NYC I see so many Birkin’s and they all look so good I always feel like I am the only one who doesn’t have, or want one. That’s right I said doesn’t want, but what I really mean is I don’t want to spend that much on a bag and have to worry about it. I would rather have a bag that if I have to jam on my breaks in my car and it goes flying I’m not going to have a heart attack. Thank you Amazon Prime, I’m also impatient!
