I can so relate to this thread. In my case, my life has evolved significantly and the bags I bought, mostly all Gucci's will outlast anything which is why I am holding on to them. I am fortunate in that I have always gravitated to bags that are under the radar and unrecognizable to the public but, at the same time, they are all one style; hobo. Each of my Gucci's have no significant identification other than one has the horsebit on the handle. In fact, when entering Hermes, wearing my Marrakech, which has two G's hanging on tassels, the SA asked if my bag was a Kooba!
Bottom line, I have not stopped wearing a Coach shoulder bag from three years ago because it is the most functional, lightweight leather bag I have ever bought. It is a neutral gray and has an outside pocket for my car key and cell phone. While I love my Gucci bags, I now crave a more tailored, more structured shoulder bag which has a light colored interior so I don't have to fumble around inside.
Speaking of light colored interior, the one bag I bought which I do love, is the BV Veneta in medium size which means, it is too small for me to wear for daytime so I look forward to wearing it when I go out for dinner.
To summarize, I think that as we get older, our priorities change and we realize it's not the "stuff" that satiates us it's the time and love we give and receive which is priceless. Just because I can afford "that" bag doesn't mean I need to own it. I am that comfortable knowing now that I don't want or need it.
