I love my Reverso. First saw them about twenty years ago and DH told me last year to go and get whichever I liked most. I don't do big watches - just not my style, although I appreciate them on other wrists from mine -so I chose this one . I love how it is a watch with a certain amount of élan; not everybody recognises it but those who do know its pedigree. It's not a screaming bling watch and that is precisely why I adore it!

Thats the other side of the reverso but I don't always wear this side. Its beautiful with sparkling little diamonds but I felt too over the top.

Hi ladies!

I've admired reversos for years and think I'll finally get one. I am considering either a new or pre-loved duetto (with reverse of black/navy dial and diamonds), but had some questions I was hoping someone here could answer.

First - has anyone ordered a custom reverso at the London/Paris (or elsewhere) atelier? I would love to hear about your experience: https://www.hautetime.com/how-to-cr...er-le-coultre-atelier-reverso-in-paris/76450/

Second - I know JLC will do engraving on the back side of a classic reverso. Has anyone heard of JLC doing engraving on the inside of the case itself? I am admiring Clare Mountbatten's custom reverso and the engraving she had done: https://monochrome-watches.com/marc...tten-and-her-unique-jaeger-lecoultre-reverso/

Third - has anyone had problems with a pre-loved and getting it serviced? I am aware that second-hand are probably also from the "grey market" so possibly no warranty for JLC service. Would love to hear your thoughts.

Fourth - any idea of average discount I could hope to get at an authorized dealer?

Fifth - what are people's thoughts about automatic versus manual wind? I currently have an automatic wind rolex and would rotate watches. Is it a problem if a manual wind isn't wound regularly? I sometimes travel etc. and leave my watches at the bank, and let them go dead. I don't want a watch that will be too delicate or unable to handle that.

Sixth - thoughts about the classic medium duetto versus the reverso one duetto?

Last - small versus medium? I have a 6.5" wrist and am 5'9". I think I can wear either, am curious about peoples' thoughts!

Thank you!

Wow, I’m envious of all the wonderful customization options available today. This certainly wasn’t the case when I bought my Reverso-Duetto 13 years ago!

IMO I’d never buy a JLC on the grey market, especially if it is your second watch rather than your 10th watch. You’d never be able to get it serviced properly.

I don’t see the logic of your statement that most second-hand watches are from the grey market. You can buy a used watch from an authorized dealer, or from a source that will give you all the papers showing it was purchased at an AD. But you won’t know how and by whom the watch has been serviced, which is a risk.

You ask what is the average discount you can expect for a JLC watch at an authorized dealer? Impossible to generalize. It depends on how well you bargain, the time of year (after the holidays is best), if the new model year is beginning soon and the dealer wants to liquidate older models, the specific watch (more common watches have lower discounts), and how good a client you or your family have been. Personally, I’d expect 10% off just for walking through the door. LOL. Suggest you look at grey market prices for the specific model and specifications you want - to be sure you’re comparing apples to apples - compare to list price, and aim for somewhere between the two prices.

Not all Reversos and Reverso-Duettos have the option of automatic movements. Most are mechanical movements. If you won’t be wearing a watch for a certain period when you travel, it will wind down no matter the movement. You can expect a power reserve of no more than 4 days. If you get an automatic movement you could keep the watch in a winder, but that wouldn’t be practical for a safety deposit box. Letting a watch wind down and then winding it again is not harmful to the movement.

Good luck in your search!

Dear Reverso-Community,

I think I fell for this model:

I've been wanting gold for quite a while. The wristband is nice, it feels nice.
Stainless-steel/gold is a classic. And the Classique is classic, too.
To me it looks posh in a good way.

Do you know this feeling, when you don't hesitate at all and know in an instant that this is a good decision to make?

Gorgeous watch - classic and versatile. Congratulations!
