I've only tried this on at the store. The strap is wider than the shoulder bag, which didn't fit on my shoulder as well as the shoulder bag.

The dogleash closure and strap does not strap over the bag like the satchel, it opens and closes, but it is purely decorative.

I would lean toward black. I am probably the lone person who hates the Whiskey color.

I am leaning towards black because I have a Kooba Embossed Sienna in Whiskey, which I love & does not show scratches & wear (like I am hearing about Coach's whiskey...)....and of course I would like a classic black bag!

Black is awesome! Mine is black! This is a really nice bag in black, not plain and boring at all! I think all the colors are great though. Probably my least favorite color so far in Legacy is natural.

I have that Kooba as well! As far as your question though, I also vote shoulder bag! I actually have it in 2 colors b/c I love the style so much (and actually may consider getting it in pond too). I have it in whiskey and while it does scratch easily, they seriously do rub out easily. Also, the vintage look of the leather actually does make it ok for the scratches and stuff (and this is coming from someone who normally goes INSANE over spots and scratches on my bags) - I actually like the "weathered" look of the bag! And I have to tell you, the smell of the legacy leather is INCREDIBLE - I keep sniffing mine (my husband really thinks I have a problem! LOL)!

Anyway, personally, I found the courier to be just be too big (in size and price) and while I love the look of the satchel, I tend to like shoulder bags more than handheld ones (and I wasn't sure about having to contend with the clasp). And like you, I like the look of the 2 front pockets over the look of the Ali. So there's my very long two cents (sorry!).
