I'm pretty sure that most T&Co started charging for cleaning several years ago - there's a price list posted when I bring in my gold/platinum items which are still free. Not sure if it's store dependent?

I brought my 6 pieces into the SF store today, but the rep didn't clean it immediately, instead she told me that she was going to send my jewelry to the New York Store for cleaning/polishing. It should be 3-4 weeks before I get them back...
I did see the cleaning price list posted: $15 for necklace, $10 for bracelet, and $5 for rings; so I'm assuming that they do normally charge for cleanings.

I took in 4 necklaces, 1 bracelet and 1 pair of earrings to the SF store. I had to wait about 10 minutes but the person who helped me was great. She said she could either clean my pieces in less than 5 minutes or she could send them to NY to get them polished and buffed. Both were no charge, including no cost for shipping back to me. I opted for the NY option.

I also had them add 3 links to my silver bracelet, it doesn't fit me anymore after I broke my wrist and had surgery on it last year. I was pleasantly surprised to hear that they would only charge me $20 to add the links.

Overall I'm very pleased with the service today.

I dropped off a few necklaces today and also got length added to a necklace. They told me it would take about 3-4 days. The service was great today (sometimes it's not)! Thanks for posting about the free cleaning!

I dropped off 4 necklaces, 1 bracelet and a pair of earrings yesterday and was told it would take approximately 2 weeks to clean. I wasn't made aware of sending anything to New York but can't wait to see my shiny items.

I think there is an explanation in my thread about the difference between polishing and cleaning at Tiffanys. Cleaning usually involves just a basic dip in silver cleaner and SHOULD be free all the time at an Tiffany store. Polishing is a more in depth process that not every store does and usually always involves a charge.

Here's the distinction:

-a quick, "steam clean" where they take it in the back & everything is done in about 3-5 minutes is ALWAYS free (at least at the one near me)

-There IS a charge for polishing.

So, it seems that people are saying that w/ this event they will POLISH for free? THAT is a good deal!

Thanks for posting this! I just got my stuff steamed last month when they were running a promotion in my store.. they usually charge for steaming. I would love to get mine polished as well!

I picked up my items today and was pleasantly suprised to see that they had also polished my items. All of the scratches were polished out of my RTT necklace and it looked brand new. I was a little disappointed when she pulled out my charm and I swear their either did a half ass job cleaning it or never cleaned it at all. I think the poor SA was totally embarrassed when she pulled it out of the envelope.
