AME thanks for saying this-- it helps a lot, because I honestly qpuldve wondered about this once I had the Big piece in hand. I woudlve been running to Tiffany and wondering why their stone looks bigger.

Does that make BG diamonds less sparkly than he Tiffany ones? I understand cut has a lot to do with brilliance, but does depth affect it significantly?

The BGD diamonds will definitely not be "less sparkly" than the Tiffany ones. The depth does affect the way light returns, but it is also reliant on table percentage and the crown and pavilion angles. So in this instance, I think the BGD stones are still going to win. The cut quality between the two brands is not even comparable. BGD is pretty tight on their angles.

MangoWife brought up an interesting point--the bezel size. I have seen more recently that BGDs are a little finer, esp on the earrings, but do keep that in mind.

What a fun dilemma! :smile1:

I will be the dissenting voice here - I have 1 BGD DBTY bracelet and 2 T&Co DBTY bracelets, and I much prefer the T&Co bracelets mainly because of the fine-ness of their bezels. BGD's bezels have great workmanship but they're simply thicker, which is not what I prefer (though it's personal preference).

That said, if you've got your heart set on BGD because of value and price, those are great reasons to go with him! I found their service to be solid.

Hope that helps! You ultimately can't go wrong either way. :flowers:

Good point! I just looked at the pics and those bezels are definitely thicker than mine. Maybe it depends on diamond size, my bezel is not thick and accents the diamond beautifully. But definitely something to keep in mind depending on size, and request as well.

I keep reading that no one does the delicateness of the chain and bezel quite like Tiffany. Its such a basic look that I honestly prefer getting my moneys worth instead of paying for a name. I think my hesitation with BG is the no return policy for bezel set jewelry... I normally do my research before making bigger purchases but you never know.

IMO, if you don't have a T&Co DBTY to compare with side by side to your BGD, you'll be very happy with your BGD - not just a relative happiness, but because they're also very well made! :D Keep in mind people here (including myself) are very detailed oriented so though we point out things like bezel fine-ness, it doesn't mean it's a no brainer. And everyone has different values even though we all love bling. :graucho:

^ exactly! there are many dbty styles from BG, Blue Nile, Roberto coin, tiffany ,cartier etc.

my favorite is my tiffany dbty also because of the bezel shape, even-ness, and design. I own a 5 diamond Roberto Coin and almost never wear it because I don't like how the bezel looks up close LOL

Likewise I have a BN almost half a carat DBTY style necklace that I never wear! Temptation sucked me into buying BN because it was much cheaper for a bigger stone, bang for buck bla bla... Don't get me wrong, the diamond is sparkly! but the bezel wasn't well made, the bezel wasn't round and delicate but uneven and chunky, the chain looked too thick around my neck for my liking, I much prefer dainty pieces.

"Bang for buck" does not come to play when I don't even wear it! What a waste of money....

OP, if you're picky like me, choose one that is well crafted by a good jeweller. :smile1:

Diamonds - definitely, BGD signature diamonds are much, much better than Tiffany diamonds in terms of cut brilliance and sparkles. However, Tiffany diamonds are still above average cut.
Metal workmanship - definitely, Tiffany is much more refined. However, BGD jewelry is still above average.

Price- wise - BGD beats Tiffany hands down.

In terms of preference, I think diamonds are more important than metal work. Remember, we are comparing best against above average, and not best against worst. The decision can be 50/50, because some people may think metalwork more important than diamond quality. However, BGD's good price helps make my decision easier. Therefore, my vote is to go with BGD.

Yes, I think all vendors have a few instances of people who were unhappy. I have bought several things from WF and I already have one DBTY and they are perfect. In getting quotes in the past, the ones from BG were almost always higher for the same thing, so I usually use WF now. In addition, when I did have BG custom make something for me, the bench did not follow the work order as written and others have had that experience. But as I said, if you look, you'll find mostly happy customers and a few that are unhappy with both.
I am interested in this as I have purchased from both BG and WF and lately WF has given higher quotes. I was surprised when that happened. Wonder what gives that you experience the exact opposite?

It is possible that once in a while, one vendor has higher quotes than the other. We need to shop around. From my prior experience (several purchases, and also my friend independently), I have got better quote from Whiteflash. Does not to shop around, and be sure to compare apples with apples.
