Oh sorry, I've must have missed it!

I'm not sure whether to go for a higher colour or choose an I...

Are you color sensitive? If not, I is definitely a bang for your money. For example, there was a VVS2, I, 1.4 carats, triple x that scored quite well on HCA (I think .9) for $17,000. The H, VS1, 1.4 carats was $20,000. The G (vs1)was like $24,000. F (vs1)was like $29,000-31,000.

Wow, THAT'S a price difference!

Well, I'm a bit colour sensitive. When I looked at both stones in the store, I could spot a bit colour in the I diamond (but only from the side).

I'm not sure how the diamond looks in normal light, though...

You need to go back and compare the different colors next to the window. I did that and can see the color differences when comparing all of them face up, but you're not going to wear two diamonds of different color grades at the same time right? Only then that you can tell. The I will have a warmer look when comparing to F, G, and H. I can barely see color differences between G and H, but I can tell with I next to G and H. I think H is where I draw the line, but ultimately I chose F because I am a colorless stone person but didn't mind G or H.

A well cut I is going to face up very white. From the side you will see a little warmth but you're not going to be looking at it from that direction that often like you are from the top. Nor is anyone else.

I can see very faint yellow from the side but in reality, I don't look at my stone from the side and in reality, after you have the stone, you just wear it and admire it from time to time and will not scrutinize every detail all the time. My band is a G and to me, the stones in the band and my ering look about the same in terms of color. If you are not 100% sure, go with a H.

A well cut I stone will face up very white. Few people will notice any colour at all unless the stone is placed next to a colourless stone, and even then the difference is often quite slight. But of course, that never happens in real life, either; people admire and appreciate a stone on its own, not face-down in perfect lighting next to a certified colourless stone! Most important is how it looks to you, though. Take a look at the I stone/s and see what you think; most people are pleasantly surprised at how white they face up.

My tiffany engagement ring is an I and love it. It has a little bit of a yellow tint depending on the light, other times it looks ice white. But i had a hard time deciding between a yellow and white diamond so to me its perfect. Here is link to a thread with pics of it It's here!

Wow, that also doesn't look like an I! It's really gorgeous!
