Interesting that they are bringing in SI1 now. Still no visible imperfections I believe, so I guess it's a good way to make it more affordable! Good to know - thanks for the info AntiqueShopper!

OMG I'm sure they are gorgeous. I have a VS2 and I STUDY it and CANNOT see a single flaw with my eye or my loupe!

Is the Tiffany upgrade policy a worldwide thing? Or is it just US.

I mean if say you buy a ring in China (which is so much more expensive than US prices), can you upgrade and purchase from a US-based Tiffany?

Would the price that you purchase your stone in China for be converted into US dollars and you can use that as a base for the upgrade or will the US store use the US price as the basis instead? I wonder....

They typically won't do it if it's different countries, it has to do with precious metal conversion etc but "anything" can be done, it depends on your relationship with your SA and the store.

Cute thread! :)

1) How many years have you had your Tiffany e-ring? - around 3 and half years!
2) Would you ever consider upgrading? -Never! too much sentimental value....but i would get an additional ring lol! :)
3) If you already upgraded - how many years after receiving the original? - n/a
4) What shape/setting do you have? - The "ribbon ring" (it's actually my avatar!) and i have two channel set bands. <3
5) If you could do it all over, would you choose the same or a different design and if so, what would you get? - For sure! It's the perfect ring for me, unique and just plain beautiful!
6) Don't answer if too personal! - What price range and size range is your stone? - center stone = 1 carat
7) No regrets at all. I love my ring and I know i could have gotten a huge stone if I went the nonbranded route, but that wasn't important to me! I love my ring and fell in love with the style as soon as I saw it. I've been told time and time again that I could have gotten the same exact style at a fraction of the cost...but you know what? I could probably get a fake speedy at fraction of the cost too, lol it's just NOT the same!

I love my ring. I love being treated like a princess at Tiffany's. And, I'll admit it...i love the attention my ring gets, even if it "only a carat"! lol :)

I haven't seen the SI1s in Tiffany yet, although I'm sure being Tiffany, they would still be eye clean. As for myself, my ring is also from Tiffany but is VVS1. I don't think SI1 would be a problem though.

I would guess that a SI1 from Tiffanys would have to be borderline non-VS2 in order to pass. Tiffany has a lot on the line in the way of brand name and bringing in less than perfect stones could really hurt that. They need to keep their reputation for having beautiful jewelry if they want to continue being able to successfully charge a premium.

As a side note, I looked at a bunch of rings this past week and here are the stats with prices to give you an idea.

2.32 F VS1 $66,000
2.35 H VS1 $48,000
2.06 G VS1 $50,500
2.02 F VS1 $55,000
1.33 H VS1 $16,100 (my original engagement ring 2007 price)
0.43 E VS1 $5,800 (for color comparison, only E they had in store at the time)
