Thoughts on wearing more than one necklace at once?

I like layering but I've found that sometimes it looks "off" for one reason or another. I'd go to Tiffany's if you can and try it on a 20" chain and see how it looks IRL. In my head though, it does sound like it would be really cute!

yah i think i will go to Tiffanys to try it out. Unfortunately I think this pendant comes with the chain so I'd have to pay to extend it...hopefully it looks good or I would have paid for nothing!

Thanks you everyone for their input! I always layer everything else...rings, bracelets but I never thought to try necklaces until now!

I also love the layered look. I usually wear a short dainty necklace and then a slightly longer necklace. I have a small neck so my necklaces are typically 14" and the longer ones are 16" or more. It gives enough space between to where the center or pendant part does not stack on top of each other.

The bean necklace is 16" I think. The heart ones comes 16" inches as well. I should lengthen it to 20" then. Not too long so I can still wear it on its own.

Instead of lengthening the 2nd necklace, you could buy a silver extender so that you can actually keep the necklace at the 16 inch length and then just add the extender to lengthen the necklace to 20 inches. This way you don't have to permanently extend the 16 inch necklace. Just look up extenders on the internet. (I've purchased a 2 inch extender previously.)

Here are a couple pics of my DBTY which is 14" layered with a 16" necklace with keys and with a 16" bow necklace. Not sure if this works more since the DBTY is so delicate. If the shorter necklace had something larger in the center like a dangling pendant I would probably need more than 2" in difference between the short and long one.

Thanks for the pics!! Those are great necklaces to layer with!

peace43 - Thanks for the tip! I would probably want the second necklace to stay at 16" so I can still wear alone without having to wear a low neckline top!!

If they're delicate.

I usually layer three when I layer.

I personally did not care for the layered look demonstrated above. I thought the necklace with the bow was too strong to be layered, that the chains were too disparate in length and that that the look was 'off'. I'd wear the bow alone,it's very pretty and looks stand alone to me.

really? I thought it looked nice, but it's good to get other opinions. I can see what you mean about the bow being too bold to layer. So do layers look better when there is a bigger difference in length between the chains? I would love to see an example of a good layered look.

I love both looks. I especially love the bow!
