Thoughts on this vintage small cf?

Hi all. I've been wanting a smaller Chanel item after getting the jumbo cf and large trendy cc. After looking at new WOCs, minis and small cf - I'm leaning on going vintage / preloved for a small CF within my budget. I came across this one on Boutique Patina and wanted to get your thoughts on its price point at $5299. I love that it's made in France, hasn't been refurbished and is in pretty good condition.

Wow this vintage CF is in great condition! The stitching, hardware hallmark, and dimpling on some of the diamonds look consistent with the 1996/1997 partial serial number shown on the sales page. The interior is pristine and gold foil details look very good.

The only thing I balk at is the price, since I got my vintage CF a few years ago before vintage CFs started going for more than USD 2000. BUT: If you have already earmarked the funds and this is a bag you've been yearning for that will help you achieve purse peace? Then, honestly go for it because I feel like it's one of those lifetime handbags.

Either way:

1) Get this bag authenticated by a third party
2) Ensure this store has a good track record with a reasonable return policy

Wow, I didn’t know that vintage CFs at one point were around 2k - honestly, I’m so torn. At ~6k I’m ready to spend more $ for a new cf. I’ll think about it more. The historical vintage pricing is good context. Thank you!

I have this same vintage bag. I highly recommend it, but am not impressed with the price they are quoting you. Very high, in my opinion. I know prices inevitably go up, but I got mine for around 3k only a couple of years ago. I would keep looking if you are committed to vintage. Otherwise...you are right that you might as well buy new at that price point.

I personally wouldn’t pay this much for a vintage classic flap bag and I don’t really understand to be honest why people would pay for a vintage bag when its almost close to the current asking price for a brand-new fresh one in store

CAREFUL: this bag is 10000% dark navy BLUE, not black as it says in the description! It’s the infamous famous dark blue that LOOKS like black sometimes as it’s so dark but if u look at some of the pictures, especially with the open flap and the red against it as well as the THREAD they used for the stitching u can tell it’s dark dark blue.

ah! thanks all I'm very green when looking at vintage chanels so this is all super helpful. Honestly, was thinking the 2K difference would be worth it but probably not. Especially since this Katlina highlighted that this bag is DARK NAVY BLUE - makes me not trust the info on these vintage bags.
