I never like the material because some of them get scratched or wrinkled easily but some of the styles can be pretty good. My mom has few of the Nine West bags.

The only type of bag that makes you tacky is a FAKE BAG!
I think Nine West bags are okay. Before I got started on the whole handbag thing, I had 3 or 4 of them that I loved!
They do have some really nice styles that are great for people who are on a budget or who just can't justify spending a large amoung of money on a bag.

Some Nine West bags deserve another look - they have nice styles - I perfer Kathy Van Zeeland's own line tho (over the Nine West bags)
However I wouldn't buy them - for the price they are charging for an essentially "plastic" bag (at least in Canada) - I could easily get a decent leather bag for the same price or like $20, $30 more...
But if you like them enough - I don't see a problem in getting them - it shouldn't matter what other people think as long as you like it...

I will start off by saying that I absolutely LOVE Nine West bags. My first "grown up" purse I ever got in Jr. High was a Nine West and I will always treasure them.
That being said, now my closet is full of them, about 20 or 25 in all. I end up rotating them out between my LV's or Bbags, just to mix things up and keept it interesting. They are so durable and sylish and affordable. To feed the purse addiction I love them.
So, no there is nothing wrong with Nine West IMO, and they're shoes are awesome too.

I don't think you're being a snob at all! I turn down really cute bags because I don't trust the quality of certain brands as well. I think it's your money and if you want quality then you shouldn't settle because you don't want to feel snobby. Anyway I hope this helps and you're not alone!
I don't think Nine West bags are tacky at all, I do think they are a nice option for ladies who aren't as purse-obsessed as those of us on tPF and just want a decent bag that will do the job. Ditto many other high street brands.
That said though, I personally wouldn't buy them because honestly, I don't think they wear that well due to the quality of the material they're made with. With the same amount of money (or slightly more), I would rather get a preloved vintage bag (I find that vintage bags have superb quality) or a unique bag off Etsy.
