Thoughts on jewelry from ex-bfs

i lost it. hahaha. i guess the heavens wanted it that way which was better. i actually lost it a while after we broke up and while it was not lost, i never wore it

I have kept one piece from an ex because it was actually given to me by his mother. The rest I sold. I would also consider having the stones re-set and the metal melted down considering the cost of metals per ounce right now...

He asked me to keep them. So they are in the jewlery box which contains everything I no longer wear.

I forgot to add that i asked for his ring back which i gave him so i could pawn it.. lol =)

I lost the cheap one he gave me a few months prior.. i guess that was a sign.. i think it fell in my garbage and i threw it out..

The ring he gave - it looks like a wedding band with an inscription inside - I threw it away.

I still have the rest but no longer wear it.

I gave just about everything back he ever gave me when we broke up.

Why? They were gifts!
I keep it and wear it, unless it's hideous or not my style. It doesn't make me sad to look at it or anything.

I only had one serious past bf who gave me jewelry, when we broke up I offered to give it back, but he refused it, I kept it all for awhile and then ended up listing it on ebay.

I actually buy my own jewelry. My BFs haven't typically had my taste, so anything they spend is wasted, IMO. My current BF has terrific taste (and his family owns a jewelry store!), so he is helpful in advising me, plus I get a pretty hefty discount. But ultimately I buy my jewelry for me, and I would feel obligated to return it if we broke up, so I buy it myself so that situation never arises.

I don't think I would get rid of the jewelry from my current bf because it is all really beautiful and tasteful.

I think I still have a pearl necklace and a gold heart with my name on it in storage. The gold heart... well... I can't really sell it with my name engraved on it, can I? If I still have it, I'll chuck it when I get home. And the pearl necklace, well I like pearls, but I sure don't wear them enough to justify getting rid of this one just to buy another.
