Thoughts on Cubic Zirconia(aka fake diamonds)

I love my Diamonique studs from QVC, they are a true wardrobe staple. I can not imagine spending the money on diamonds when I have a beautiful substitute that shines and sparkles even better than the real thing. Plus, my studs are 2 carat size (4 carat total weight), which would cost a fortune in a real stone.
OP- these are the perfect size- large enough to be noticed, but not too large and fake looking.

I have Diamonique studs and I really, really like them. May be my favorite earrings next to my pearl ones. I've had them for about 10 years now and they still look great.

I don't know whether QVC still makes this warranty, but all their Diamonique CZ jewelry used to come with a lifetime warranty in that if the stones clouded, as CZ often does, they promised to replace it for free.

About 7-8 years ago I contacted them because I had a DZ ring with a stone that looked cloudy. The ring was about 10 years old at the time. Since I no longer had the receipt their customer service offered to search through the old microfilms of their order database to find my original order info so they could replace the stone. I ultimately decided not to put them through the trouble as closer inspection of the ring showed lots of scuffing on the stone which is what was making it look cloudy. But I thought that was awful nice of them.

Other than that battered ring I've never had any trouble with QVC CZ clouding.

OP, I think it's a great idea to see them in person. Personally, I think anything 1+ ct per ear can start to look a big gaudy so once you hold them up to your ears you'll have a much better idea of what you're working with :smile1:

All this talk about diamonique has heightened my interest, I'm looking at qvc UK, but I have a hard time deciding. This one is gorg http://www.qvcuk.com/ukqic/qvcapp.aspx/view.2/app.detail/params.item.697027/walk.yah.UKJE~UK01 but I think too long. I would like something shorter to wear with simple Ts and button down shirts. I think rivière necklaces with white shirts are so chic!
I will probably never actually own a real one, at least not for the next 20 years, maybe on our 40th anniversary, even then I will probably have croaked, so I'm looking for cz. lol
Any suggestions from UK and EU shops?

My other option is the fidelity necklace from Swarovski. http://www.swarovski.com/Web_GR/en/973783/product/Fidelity_Necklace.html?CatalogCategoryName=0108

Wow! That DZ necklace is gorgeous! I say go fer it!

QVC offers lots of gorgeous CZ jewelry to you folks in the UK. Much, more more than to use in the U.S. I've heard that they're scaling back on offering jewelry in the U.S., preferring to focus on appliances and accessories. Wonder if their U.K. web site would ship to the U.S. :thinkin:

You have lovely taste. I wasn't able to see the Swarovski necklace, but I vote for the DZ one.

IDK what will happen with the QVC UK site and the jewelry, I just discovered it to be honest. Unfortunately in the US there is a larger market for quality CZ jewelry while in EU and UK it is not really widespread and the things I find on line are usually not very pretty. Too fakey.

Here is the swarovski necklace in the US site, hope it works now. http://www.swarovski.com/Web_US/en/973783/product/Fidelity_Necklace.html?CatalogCategoryName=0108

I LOVE Diamonique from QVC! I have tons of pieces and everyone thinks they're real. Actually, the only real diamonds I own is my engagement ring and wedding band. Diamonique comes with the best warranty too! I had a pair of hoops that were about 5 years old and a stone fell out. They refunded me the full amount since they weren't for sale anymore.

These are the ones i have now, i bought them in paris a few years ago for about 30 euros. I'm not sure if they're actually cz or a cheap rhinestone but i think they're cute and sparkly. They're kinda getting green at the back and it seems like the diamond is coming out of place so that's why i'm looking for new ones. I want ones similar in size, i have no idea what size they are.

I am not a fan of cubics at all, i'd rather wear none stone jewelry if I couldn't get diamond. However, if you play it smart, especially at macys and bloomingdales, theres a lot of events where they give away free cubic earrings. Def do not pay 100 bucks for them. I have one pair I've worn once or twice and it was free from bloomies. It's one of those big earrings you were talking about. Just a thought to save you money!

IIRC, they do still have that warranty and scuffs do count. I need to tear through my office for my recent purchases. I didn't think you needed a receipt still.

I like the Swarovski one too! I prefer the Diamonique one, but at 30" in length I think it might be too dressy for T-shirts and everyday wear. Although I recently saw a woman wearing a 30" crystal necklace over everyday wear and it looked fantastic. The longer crystal necklaces seem to be the trend around here. Hard choice. :thinkin: I think it boils down to which one you think you would get the most wear out of.

does anyone have modelling pics of their studs? I'd love to see for some reference!
Here's my studs. They are .33ctw. Terrible pics...
One I just snapped on my phone. Boy do I have some fatness in the head.

I love the look of big diamond stud earrings but i don't have the money to buy real huge diamonds! I always walk through sears and see these gorgeous cubic zirconia studs for 100 bucks, i really want them but i'm not sure if it's tacky or not? Do you guys wear fake diamonds? Is it a big fashion no no?
I say wear what you enjoy, whether it be cubic, diamond, etc.!
