Today I was shopping with a friend in the boutique near me with my PM and I asked if they could tell me from the chip, when it was made aka the "birthday" because it would be so nice to know.
Yes, they could, I was told- but they totally refused. I asked the sales person why not, and he muttered something about data protection (c'mon, it's my bag!) and - in a nutshell - that this is not my business!
I think it's petty and just...so...so...
Of course, it's not crucial to know it, but he sounded like I would have asked to get something for free.
I'm kinda bummed.

I thought I read online, people ask all the time about the chip, since there is no more date code...?

That stinks he made you feel that way. I’m not sure if it was a control issue, like he had some big secret that only employees could access??!!! hopefully you go back and ask someone else or go to another store and find out….

Thank you so much for this. Can I please ask is it actually visible or is it hidden under the lining ? I have the new Madeleine MM and just can't find where it is. I have looked and felt around everywhere. The city I live inin Australia doesn't have an LV store so I can't go instore to look at any bags.
