This thread is hysterical! As the owner of two chocolate bags, Togo and box, it seems strange to me that such a "normal" leather color can inspire such disdain:laugh: I also adore etain and olive and toundra.....oh well. :p

I can't really think of any color that is awful although there are many I would never carry, even as a gift, but I admire them on others. Except maybe bluejean:laugh:

I think if you are a fan of chocolate, you likely appreciate etain. I always liked the tone of chocolate and found it one of the more elegant browns.

I've gotten offered a chocolate birkin twice. It smelled wonderful, but really, to hand over a big chunk of change for that color? I'd rather buy a candy bar, enjoy that chocolate taste and be done with it? And what's up with blue jean? Such an old fashioned blue, especially when they're coming up with such glorious blues like mykonos, blue electrique, blue aztec, blue de malte...

:p You're a woman after my own heart!

With all the new colors, my preferences have changed so much over the years. I remember when I first started collecting, blue jean was my must have color and vert anis was a dream and etoupe was for certain. Now these are the colors that I would never buy. I love the new exciting blues and the rich greens and etoupe is just boring after seeing the various shades of pinks and purples! But I'm sure this won't last forever, I"m sure I will oneday fall back in love with the "old" colors (especially when they are discontinued!)

An interesting note about Gold...

I always pester the SAs about their color thoughts. For years, my primary SA in Paris has talked to me about how gold seemed "old" and not as young or fresh as other colors. Despite the fact that I always thought it looked good on many people, I passed on any gold bag.

In recent months I have made two trips to France and what it REALLY interesting to me are some of the comments from the youngest (and delightful) SAs at the Sevres and Faubourg stores. A number of them have told me that they love gold.

I suspect there are cycles for the popularity of some colors. I think it is fascinating that a few young Paris SAs are feeling the love for gold....

interesting indeed Perigord! i used to think the same about gold too - that it looked old - but the first birkin i was offered was in gold, the SA told me it was a classic H colour. I didn't know anything about H then except birkins are very difficult to come by so i bought it. i grew to love the colour, it really goes with everything, under the radar and is fabulous in togo with the white stitching!! until this day (nearly a year later) i still can't help admiring the bag, stitching, leather, smell...hmmmm..

with etoupe it was the reverse, i really like the colour initially but now have grown out of it. not as rich as gold IMO.
