So...she was Executive Producer of the Aaliyah movie which ran Saturday on Lifetime and, people immediately went to social media and slammed it, mostly for casting choices. Apparently, there were nothing but obstacles surrounding this movie being made, but she swore she would do it justice. I watched it last night and NOPE. It should've all been left on the cutting room's floor, IMO. The acting was horrible, the story was disjointed and boring and the casting director needed to be fired. I liked Aaliyah, but...I'm gonna just say she probably has earned more in death. This is a story that only had 2 interesting parts (IMO) and neither were told. Sorry, Wendy, I like you but you should've left this alone.

Mother Nature literally gave her NOTHING to work with, didn't she.

Nope, nada. That nasty attitude of hers doesn't help either.

I didn't watch the Aaliyah movie because I knew Lifetime wouldn't do her story justice and once Wendy attached her name it was clear that nothing but messiness would ensue. I heard they couldn't even bother to pronounce her name right in the movie :confused1: Seriously??

I thought Wendy just attached her name to the movie after it started getting bad press to try and get it some good press or something to that effect. The way it was explained was that she really didnt have anything to do with much of casting, writing, etc cause it had already been done. can someone confirm?

^IDK. But, isn't an Executive Producer responsible for something? The leading lady dropped out and the family blocked the original music from being used before Wendy signed on. Maybe she did lend her name, but that was "her bad", if that's the case. The movie sucked.

I watched it too last night and everything about it was wrong. The casting was awful, I don't need the actors to be carbon copies of the folks they are supposed to be playing but at least capture that person's character. I could not get past the person that was supposed to be Missy...insanely bad casting as if they've never seen Missy before. From the wardrobe to the acting to the case to the writing to production was all awful. I mean there was nothing in it to make understand why she went so hard to be with R. Kelly or why she and Dame were compatible or see her close relationship with her brother.

I'm sure no one would talk to them so they just went off of what they knew from tabloids I guess.

She got the EP title because the producers called her up one day to get more info about R. Kelly into the movie after she was discussing it on her show one day. She didn't have anything to do with casting, etc.

This is what I heard on the radio before it came out.
