I just got an invite to HM event (apparently "the caravan" is coming to my town for a limited time). I already accepted despite not properly understanding what it was all about. However after reading this thread, I think I should ring up and cancel as I am not really interested in ordering a bag that maybe double the price of the bag I wanted originally (i.e., the new soft lockit bag).
What do you suggest? Any advice would be appreciated.

you could always just have a look as because you have been invited doesn't mean you HAVE to order (although the SA is hoping you will) …I informed my SA I feel the styles need to be refreshed since there is only one shoulder option offered and wish they offered a clutch style.
My SA sent me photos of the soft lockits ..nice but I like structure

Yes. Your SA gets you the invitation. I'm not sure if there are guidelines on whom can be invited.

To be honest I have been thinking exactly the same thing. I feel bad going and then not ordering but yeah, at twice the price JUST to get a custom color combo, it seems a bit excessive. I wish we could do more customization, like make the handles of the lockit a different color than the bag leather. I dunno. Just seems like too much for the "privilege."
Just ordered mine - so happy the HM event travelled down to New Zealand. Going to be such a long wait, in the meantime will be drooling over all your lovely HM creations!
The wait IS long for sure. 3 mos and counting for me. But worth it. They did tell me at the HM event it could be sooner.

I was in your shoes couple months back. I did go in and I did NOT order because I really thought the bag was overpriced for what they were offering for the privilege. Unlike a special order birkin or kelly - I will not be able to recoup close to what I pay for the HM bag if I should decide it is not for me and to sell it. I'm sure my boutique now hates me - hahhaah - but I wasn't about to drop $10K to make them continue to like me.
