Congrats!!Will you please model your 140? I think it's a latecomer from the fall collection. Which colorway is it?

[emoji23][emoji23][emoji23] I'm at 101 (not counting twillies or gavroches of course) and I try to keep it under 100. [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]

Wow! Dear Pocketbook Pup, would you please share your knowledge & thoughts behind your collection? I'm new to H scarfing & feel like scarves I want were released years ago. I purchased 3 new scarves this season & one scarf from consignment store. Honestly, I don't like pre-loved scarves. I think I like mine new & pristine. But love looking & creating list of "acquire"-s from past seasons in case if they get reissued . I've seen your pictures & think you have a great taste just like MYH and other lovely scarf enthusiasts. So I'm so curious & look forward to see your collection ;) How long did you collect? What I like about you & MYH is that you wear your treasure, use it.

You are too kind. I have only been collecting for 3-4 years. I went kind of crazy for a while. I'm thinking of doing a thread like myh but I could never do as good a job as she does.

This is stunning! Your photos are beautiful. Im a sucker for the ex libris design and for 140 silks. My store still hasn't received some of the designs including this one. Congratulations on it.

I started collecting 3-4 years ago. I didn't know there were seasons and scarves changed or anything. Then I found Mai tai's blog. Then tpf and tango tosca's thread. And scarf of the day. So I have a lot from the past few years and then older designs that I bought online. You can often find brand new pristine scarves for resale. You just have to keep looking. But now I have more than I can possibly wear. Which makes me sad. I don't want them to sit in a drawer unused. So I am trying to narrow my choices to those that are showstoppers or those that complete an outfit in my wardrobe. And I have to realize that just because I appreciate something doesn't mean I need to own it. I'm also gradually editing out those that I don't wear often. I think a lot of collectors go through this process.

Back to spring 2017, there are so many nice designs coming. I'm sure to go over my 100 limit. [emoji51]

I think it's really easy to go overboard initially b/c they are so different and beautiful. I got close to 200 within a rather short time when I first started back in the 80s. That was too much. There was inevitably some I liked more than others, especially if later in the season a more desirable cw came out, then I'd have doubles. I could easily bop into the 2 NM in this area and scan the case without the serious SA attention (= sales pressure) that comes with the boutique. It was easy to go for every cw on some, Paris Modiste, for example. I don't do that anymore. I want to use and wear them, not collect for the sake of collecting.
So when ebay came along (and I didn't join for some time), I used it like others to purge and rebuild over and over, between the boutique, NM and ebay. Last year I bought maybe 1 or 2 HS. And lived!!!!! I've gotten some this year but I am not driven to get them the way I was initially. It's a relief. There are only so many reissues of Chasse en Inde that one can get exited about. Moreover, I never really got into the CDC until this year. Although I don't have many, I really like them, and hey, as we all know, more is better.

I wonder if one can really tell what their true preferences are until they've experienced a few seasons . . . It's a question of going from "everyone is wonderful" to "these two are reallly wonderful." Plus color preferences change over time. Citron didn't seem to exist prior to the last few years. Of course, chartreuse did, and that was fine, but I really got into jaune vif big time (which equals about 5 HS, not so bad, and all were different). And there seem to be so many interesting variations on blue and blue-green lately that i haven't seen before.

Great insight... 200. Ok I don't feel so bad about my 100 now. You are right that you learn over time what works for you. And
the more you have the fewer you need. Now where are the spring scarves.... [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]
