What bothers me the most , is that I know that hermes has so many other products that are not available to me and my store will never receive them. I could ask for international search but it’s complicated and if I don’t like/ doesn’t fit , I will be a an unfortunate situation.
also , I lucked out my SA is responsive and understanding. But I cannot get offered what I want because of scarcity of stock, too little quota bags available and they go to the highest spender.

As stated a good relationship with an SA can completely dictate whether I shop at hermes or not.

I couldn’t agree with you more. Often times I’ve found that the list I’ve given to my SA are responded with we don’t have those or won’t be getting those and can’t even transfer them due to limited stock in Canada overall. Then, like you mentioned I can’t be bothered with a WWS every single time - it’s cumbersome to have to wait for something come in who knows when and also not being able to see it or try it on, and be almost stuck with it since a WWS was done. The limited availability makes it so much harder to shop sometimes :(

I’m in Chicago with one boutique. I really can’t compare because I’ve only visited this one location. I absolutely love my SA and find the atmosphere enjoyable. I have not had much issue when asking for items. If she does not have the item, she has been great locating it for me. Full admission, she did say that due to the pandemic, they did not receive much last year and going into this year as well.

Hi everyone, I'm new here.

So for our entire extended metropolitan area, we have 1 store....located in downtown Washington DC. I'm new to the world of Hermes - and all of it's eye-catching products - and so this is the ONLY store I've ever walked in to.

Is anyone familiar with the DC store? Do we fall into the "small boutique" category? We definitely have many high-income communities around here....so I'm trying to gauge what I'm up against. :whut:

I personally liked the old location in Tysons for various reasons, ease of parking being one. I have only been to the DC location twice. While I used to live in DC for over a decade, I left that land of chaos and am now a couple hours away. With the dignitaries, political appointees and the wealthy that live in the DC Metro area: Bethesda, northern Virginia, etc. means a lot of competition. I know there are a other tpf members who live in the area who shop there, so perhaps they will chime in giving you their perspective.

This is really helpful, thanks! Hopefully other DC area TPF members won't mind sharing their experiences. I'm new, so it's all so fresh and exciting for me right now.

I am a regular client at the DC boutique which serves 5 states in addition to tourists visiting the nation's capital. It is a smaller boutique serving many high income earners in both business and politics. The competition is high for quota bags and the inventory is low compared to larger boutiques. As an established client, I have enjoyed my experience with the DC boutique and have been offered quota bags. Good luck on your journey!

I disagree. While we live a half hour drive from NYC with three boutiques, we prefer shopping at the boutique in Connecticut. Hardly any tourists and the personalized attention and laid back attitude is appreciated. And the small boutique gets plenty of stock to keep the customers happy.

DC is definitely a small boutique, especially when considering it is the only one in a large, densely populated area. It also has a lot of wealthy clientele and tourists. DC is my local store, and I am far from a VIP, but I was offered a quota bag in my dream combo there just this month! I spent 1:1 before getting my offer, but I received the exact bag I wanted, which also happens to be a highly requested bag. I love my SA and I never feel like I'm any less valued as a client than the people spending hundred of thousands per year!

I’m new to Hermes and have been weighing up my options on this recently. I live about an hours drive from the Manchester store, but feel like I might be better starting on the H journey with a London boutique as I have no idea what stock availability will be like in the only store outside of London in England. It’s worth saying I usually travel to London a few times a year with work, and I probably go to Manchester less frequently, but obviously it’s much more convenient. Any advice?

I would go to the small boutique in Manchester first and see if I could hit it off with an SA at that boutique. My experience has been that small boutiques get plenty of stock so the relationship and liking the boutique would win over heading to a larger urban boutique.
