:p Which REALLY brings up the issue of quality and longevity!

I understand elongreach's point. A bag company that has a track record of a few years does not an established brand make. I, too, have looked at the Ramona and thought "pretty", but I have hard time paying that much for ANY bag!

Um...weren't you with me the first time I saw the Ramona?

I just purchased the regular leather Ramona in Khakis a little over two and a half weeks ago. I admit, when I first saw the bag in magazines, it really didn't appeal to me. The price tag itself was a huge turnoff and at the time, I couldn't see myself spending more than $1200 for a bag.

However, I have to say, I am really glad that I took the plunge. I grow more and more in love with the bag every day. It is stylish, yet very functional - I love all the interior pockets and that fact that it is "adjustable" and very easy to use. Due to its size, it looks heavy, but in fact, it's not. I've had other bags that are smaller, but turn out to be a lot heavier. The fact that it is a "shoulder" bag really helps, and it does lie flat against your body once your things are in there. The leather is TDF and of very good quality - I actually had a moment of panic last week when I thought I somehow
"greased"/stained the bag while on the Metro, but whatever the stain was, it disappeared completely after a few hours without me doing anything to repair it. This leads me to believe that I don't have to baby the bag.

I've been reading the lively debate about Jimmy Choo and the price for this bag. Regardless of whatever opinion people have, I think that at the end of the day, the Jimmy Choo Ramona is a great quality bag and well worth the money. It's luxurious and most importantly functional, and I feel really great using it. I think that the line is really starting to take off and people should really give it a chance. They make awesome shoes (I have several pairs) and it doesn't suprise me at all that their handbags are headed (if not already) in that direction.

^^I saw the JC Penney's version too and almost returned my brown Ramona right then and there!! :yucky: LOL. I got over the horror after a few days though and decided to keep her - if I still love my paddington when the JC Penney knock-offs are now $19.99, then it really doesn't matter... NO ONE is going to mistake Ramona for a JC Penney bag.

The price does hurt - I got a few breaks (Amex/Saks gift certificate + new account discount + no tax in my state) so the price wasn't as hard to swallow - I purposefully planned those discounts for this one bag and probably wouldn't have bought it otherwise. The only other 'cons' I can think of is sometimes it's hard to find things in the bag/pockets because it's unstructured, and because of that I also worry more where to set it down....

additional pros IMO are that it STAYS on your shoulder - unlike some hard leather straps that constantly slide off - I don't have to constantly put it BACK on my shoulder, and I love the way it just melts and conforms to the body - so comfortable. I even weighed Ramona - 3 pounds which is exactly the same as a paddy, but you get so much more bag, and since it sits so effortlessly on your shoulder it feels really light... and I really don't think this bag will look dated - it's popular but not iconic, so besides those of us in the know, I think it's an under-the-radar bag. :flowers:

I have only seen the Ramona twice in a store. Both times the SA's either had one or wanted one. They felt like the bag was fabulous and you had to have one. It might have been a sales tactic, I don't know. But at any rate the leather is luscious and it is a well made bag. In a few years we will see if it stands the test of time.

Up until my first JC purchase, I thought they were overpriced for the name, however, I bought my first Jimmy Choo (on sale) 3-4 years ago, and since then have purchased many. I also purchased the navy Ramona when it first came out in Spring(?) 2005, and I thought it was a LOT OF MONEY for that bag, but I was so hooked, I had to have it... I have gotten more compliments on that bag than any other I own. I also have several Prada's (new gauffre), Chloe, lots of MJ, Celine, Tods, etc., but I am hooked on Jimmy Choo. The quality is fantastic, the bags are actually useable (compartments, etc.). and my most compliments on my bags come when I'm carrying a Choo--even the SA in Saks and Neimans remark "that's a Jimmy Choo, isn't it--beautiful!!".

As with everything else in life, we all have preferences and are entitled to our fav's, but my personal note on Choo bags, they're fantastic!!

I swear I might just have to stalk ebay or something for this bag, because I need this bag. I'm going crazy over the Ramona.

The price should not be an issue in buying any purse. Let's be honest here. No bag is worth $2000.00. You are buying into a brand name - some more coveted or established than others. If you like the bag, if you LOVE the bag, if you can't LIVE WITHOUT THAT BAG!!! then buy it. A purse purchase should make you happy. You should love carrying it. Showing it off. Listening to compliments about it.

If you really studied the price tag of every bag you bought, you probably wouldn't buy any bag at all.

BTW, the Ramona is very pretty, super functional, and just a high quality bag. Is it worth 1850.00 - probably not. But neither is any Fendi or Prada or Chanel I've ever seen. I buy them because I like them, not because they've been around forever. They are purses, not houses. Their appeal will always be subjective.

If you like it buy it. But please don't buy it because the designer has been around forever. Not a good reason to buy or NOT to buy a handbag.

Just my humble opinion....:supacool:

I saw dark red patent one IRL for the first time yesterday, and I have to say...IT"S WORTH EVERY PENNEY!!! That bag is such a head turner I wanted to mug the poor gal wearing it. I was at lunch with another PFer & we both noticed it right away, the Ramona is stunning!! I am now adding that to the top of my want list. I don't care if Choo is new, that is a stunning bag.
