The past two weeks with this ring have been horrible.

Find a good bench jeweler you can actually talk to and then perhaps discuss having them put a new shank or half shank on that will be your correct size. It is a little more expensive but someone skilled should be able to do it properly.

I'm sorry this happened to you! Why didn't you go to the place where your BF bought the ring hand have it resized there? At least they would stand behind their work or perhaps they would have other sizes for you to do an exchange etc?

Holy crap, you aren't kidding about those sizing beads being huge! Mine are less than half that size.

With the stones being grey, it's possible that some solder got left on the back of the stones during the work. That happened to me when I was having my jeweler fix some issues I had with my engagement ring, before it was finalized. They gave it to me and I kept seeing this dark spot where a stone should be. I would have a mini-heart attack everytime I saw it because the stone was there but it was so dark it looked like it had fallen out. I took it back to the jeweler to point it out and she told me the solder hadn't been cleaned from the back of it. She was able to have it fixed and it's fine now. Maybe that's what happened to your stones.

missD, my BF lives about 2 1/2 hours away and we only get to see eachother on weekends or every other weekend depending on work, so he purchased it at a jeweler near him. He wanted to give me the actual ring that weekend so he didnt order it in my size since it would take 8-10 weeks to receive a special ordered ring. The jeweler only carries size 6.50 and some rings can be sized, others need to be ordered in the desired size. The jeweler that it was purchased from will not do any returns/refunds now that the ring had work done on it. I would of waited and had it exchanged at the original jeweler if i knew the outcome.
Since the jeweler i went to had "30" years experience i felt that i could trust him. :(

I am sooooo happy! :D
Basically the other jeweler tried to clean it and it didn't make a difference. The diamonds were still dark and the whole appearance just wasn't the same.
He told me to go home again and soak it in windex, so i did. Nothing.
Before I was going to go back to that lousy jeweler for like the 4th time, i called the original jeweler and begged and begged if something could be done. Good news is, the ring will be exchanged with a small price for the damage/missing diamond.
So as soon as i meet up with my BF we will bring the ring back and pick up the new one in my size. :yahoo:
I'm not going to make a fuss with the jeweler, he returned my money for the original sizing beads and i will leave it at that. Its not worth it, at least i know i will never go back there again.

I'm so glad it seems like it has been worked out! I completely understand how special it was coming from your bf. If my DH ever picked out something on his own for me instead of just giving me the money, I would treasure it like no other!

Would love to see some pics!!!
