I found an 04 s/s black city with shiny gold hardware for just under 900..., is that a good deal and a good year? Near mint condition with only slight scratches on hardware. I have never bought a Balenciaga and was exploring speedy b by Louis Vuitton and saw a video on this bag in YouTube and intrigued me for first time. Thoughts?
A bag in mint condition from Spring 04, would be very rare. Prices on pre-owned bags fluctuate, and depend on supply and demand, but in a 2016 market, this would be a steal for a collector. However, a bag from Spring 2004 should have what we call pewter hardware, which appears more silver than gold. So, I'd advise you to have it authenticated to be sure it's what it's purported to be. thanks much for reply.....didn't think for a second wasn't authentic as this is very reputable online site..... I'm not an expert in Balenciaga but never seen gold shiny hardware ever. was it ever used at all?
Can you post larger and clearer pics? From what I can make out, the tag looks as though it has way too many numbers for an older bag. If the seller is saying it's an 04, I'd definitely have it authenticated.

thanks much for your advice! and you were so right. reseller was Trendlee and their online support told me was s/s 04 and was WRONG. In fact this bag is currently on Balenciaga website and sold today. is a 2016 model and mint unused for 852.00 with their Labor Day sale! I wanted an older one but to get a brand new current for 1000.00 off of retail right now is mind blowing to me and this is my very first Balenciaga. Never caught my attention before and seen this bag a decade. so so excited to get it and thanks again for your help.

My HG's are bags from 2003-2004. So far, all I've managed to get a hold of is my Pumpkin city with pewter HW.
I only wear it in the fall, October through November and always with the skull charm..lol.. One of my favorite Bags.

@Conni618 Thank you. Pumpkin is one of my favorites as well. That's why I only wear it for a few months out of the year. I want this baby to last me for the next 30 years..lol.
The leather on this bag is one of my favorites (if not favorite.) It really exemplifies that "puddle of leather" that Bals are known for. The leather is divine, and the color saturation is unreal.
