My bag is here...8 days earlier than expected! Yay!

Gosh, so much work went into getting this bag (warning, long post ahead)...

Decided I wanted a mini cammello/dolly (already have a regular black/flamma).
Didn't bother with the may relaunch as it all looked too stressful, decided to try ebay.
Couldn't find anything on ebay.
Expanded my search to mini cammello/anything.
Found a cammello/argento on Tradesy and bought it. Turns out it was a falsely advertised mini mini. Joined PurseForum to complain about tradesy customer service.

Discovered PS Dept and tried them. Got offered a preorder for a regular cammello/rosa and I took it.
Realised I still wanted a mini and decided to explore calf coated as I had a regular cammello on preorder already. Posted in the 'help me find' thread.
Got alerted to a mini rosa in stock at Barneys. Had my credit card blocked at checkout and someone else bought the bag before I could do anything about it.
Got alerted to a mini peony for preorder at BG.
Saw on their website that they also had mini veg tanned buckets, including what appeared to be the cammello/dolly I originally wanted. Pre-ordered the 'brown/red' hoping it was the right one. Cancelled my PS Dept order.
BG randomly cancelled my order. Turns out brown/red was cammello/rosa anyway.

Decided to give the July relaunch a shot, getting up at 1am local time for it. At this point hubby thinks I've lost the plot. Scored her at 1:07.

So on the way I picked up one extra bag and ALMOST ended up with three others... I guess the moral of the story is... don't settle! :D

PS the dolly is amazing IRL. The MG stock photos don't do it justice.

super happy that your saga ended in a happy way! love your new cammello/dolly bucket. enjoy wearing her!

Has anyone else received an MG from Laprendo?
I have just suddenly had some concerns about mine. It has the same smell as my black/flamma but the actual cammello colour isn't like what I see photographed and I had a cammello tote a while ago which was different. Sort of caramel like where as this is light and almost looks like painted leather. I love it and the colours but it just doesn't appear like the usual camello. Looking at the MG Site though, they show camello the same as mine looks in the bucket but the canvas ones are more like I remember.
Just hoping it's authentic.... Not sure how to get it authenticated because I believe you can only authenticate ones for sale.

Everything on it including the smell is the same as my black flamma it's the colour I'm confused about.

Ohhh I would love to hear comments from those who bought from LaPrendo too. I have my name on their wait list and I don't own any MG bag yet for me to do comparison [emoji37]

Everything else seems legit compared to my other buckets and they're on MGs site as an authorised stockist but the leather just isn't the same. Doesn't mark with a fingernail either as other camello items seem to.

Is it a kind of a pale orangey colour? When I got my cammello I thought it wasn't as 'caramel' as some of the photos. I'm just assuming that it's how it looks when it's new and it will become more caramel as it patinas. It seems to photograph differently than what it looks like in person. Mine is not from laprendo though, I got it direct from MG at the relaunch. Not sure about marking with a nail, I haven't tried that yet.

I had a camello tote which was different to this but returned it. That was new when I got it from NAP. That's what I'm comparing to. I have another camello item arriving next week.

Ladies,

I had the same experience (after comparing vs. my colleague's bag) and went to e-mail LaPrendo about it. The explanation I got was that the bags sold by Asian retailers actually has additional coating to minimize scratches based on feedback from the vendors!

Bags sold on the website and other retailers do not have this special coating and feels more matte. I prefer this for Camello / Brandy though because I prefer the more velvety texture.

You learn something every day!:roflmfao:

That's interesting! Now that you mention it, the Camello bucket I saw in Lane Crawford (Hong Kong) did feel different to my Black bucket, even though both are veg tanned. Me, I prefer the matte feel of the orig bags without the extra coating.

I would maybe email MG directly to ask them about this?

I may have posted about this before but I don't think so. I have the small, not mini bucket in rosa. I love love love the color. Two things bother me. 1) I treat my bags as if I'm going to have them forever...because I plan too! I haven't carried this bag much and most of the bag looks pristine but the bottom corners (teeny tiny area) are gray with dirt I can't clean. That doesn't seem right for a bag I've had since April and if you add up my carry time comes to maybe a month. Any cleaning ideas I haven't thought of? I use Cadillac cleaner now. 2) It's tiny! My fault alone, I should of gotten the bigger one. I look at posts and whatever I can find about what people carry in this bag and I can't believe how much people get in it! Maybe I need to go back to purse packing school! (Actually funny story, I got a purse packing lesson at Chanel once because the SA didn't like the way my jumbo looked, it was pulling on the side. I was mortified!) I want to love this bag so much and I do love looking at it but it's not the kind of bag I can depend on for a weekend away. I guess it's not as much of a work horse that I would expect this kind of bag to be.

There are 3 bucket sizes-large, mini and mini mini. Which do you have? The corners do get dirty-no way around it-on my veg tanned and my calf leather. I would suggest trying to see if you can get a tarrago cream (or similar) that you can touch up your corners with-there is really no way to avoid this problem. With bags that don't have feet, corners become an issue-most bags, not just Mansur Gavriel. I do not fit much into my mini either-I use it as a weekend bag-going out to dinner, etc. as it does not really fit all that much.
