The men in our lives and bag awareness....

My husband of 26 years humors me! I sell off the bags at the bottom of my "I just love this" list on eBay so he knows it's probably the same money recycling over and over. Also, I tell him I'm just ordering this one to "play with" (have to touch them and load them up) and I'll send it back. Some I send back, some I don't. Now I'm into TRADING bags. If I buy one, I have to sell one. He also gives me his opinion on any I buy and is usually right. I keep telling him it's just my hobby...

Ooh my bf is the same way...he knows exactly what I buy...I guess I can take that as a compliment (in a way) in that he acknowledges and notices things about me. *shrugs*

His rationale is that my bags must all serve a purpose, be big enough to hold his stuff and he favors a messenger style (although I have wiggled my way out of that stipulation almost all the time)

I guess I'm lucky considering I'm at the moment a stay at home mom and have no money of my own... so my DH finance my bag addiction.
He used to be clueless about bags and you can just imagine how surprised he was the first time he got me a bag when we were still going out...
I guess now he just accepted the fact that he married an expensive woman. (never kept my addictions from him from the start so I guess he cant really complain):p

hubby is supportive. he knew when i first met him that i had a bag obsession. (that along with shoes.) he gives his opinion on some and others, he simply knows that it makes me happy. in our home i have one closet devoted to bags. he put an overhead light in the closet so that i could see better to make my day to day (or evening) selection. he has his indulgences, too. really, life is short. as long as you can afford the necessities of life (and stay out of debt) why not indulge in a piece of useful ART ...ie bag.

I am lucky. My husband is very, very, very supportive. He is very educated on bags because he always patiently listens as I babble about them. He takes the time to answer my silly questions about my bags (i.e. grenat or rouge? Which red do you like better? Do you think I should get a balenciaga classique or a city?). The great thing is that he knows how important the answer is to me so he actually takes the time to think it over and give me great advice.

One day at work I had a "purse" moment ( I couldn't decide between the Balenciaga First or City) and I emailed him during lunch to get his opionion. He wrote back immediately and told me to go for the First! I went out, bought a First and paraded around in my living room modeling it for him. When I told him how much it was he didn't blink an eye but smiled charmingly and said, "Whatever makes you happy makes me happy". And I guess that is what it comes down to. Can a boyfriend put a price on your happiness? If he can than maybe he doesn't understand you as well as he should.

Ahhh....my hubby......that's amore.

This is a awsome thread! My hubby totally understands my obsession in luxury goods, especially when it comes to shoes and bags :yahoo:
We were recently on our honeymoon in Italy and I bought myself a black Fendi Spy (with my own money ;) )... but a few days later when we were in Capri I also found the Luella Gisele bag on sale. Since I've already used most of my pocket money on the spy bag
and a Dior St. Germaine belt, he bought me the Luella Gisele bag :yahoo:

err....I've never really care what my SO comment about my bags obsession. If I fancy it, I'll buy no matter he likes it or not....  but sometimes, he gives me "hypnotised opinion" and what the heck, I ended up without buying the bag....:hysteric:

My DH knows I have a bag obsession. I don't think he really knows how much though. I usually sneak many bags in without him knowing it and I just add it to the rest. I have so many that he doesn't know if it's old or new.

When he knows about me buying new bags, I usually fibb about the price of it. I remember once telling him I bought a bag for $400 and he thought that it was incredible a bag could cost that much. That's usually about a third of what I really spend.

I am trying to keep my spending to things that are timeless and I'll be able to use forever. This forum is adding to my obsession though. LOL
