Well, I'm European and I hear those a lot!

But please don't make me pronounce words like Massachusetts, Jewerly or Knowledge or my tongue will end up as a knot!

Massachusetts is pretty easy! Mass-uh-choo-sets! If you think the state is hard to say- you should hear the accents Boston-ers have.

Anyways, I saw vuh-ton. and Hermes is Er-mes. I've been having problems with Botkier, so I say bot-kee-ear. :-p I could be wrong though.

It is hard to write it down, but I say it " v(ei)-toh(n) "
I pronounce the (ei) as if i am saying "e" but with narrow lips (like u r saying "O) and and the (n), almost silent!:blink:

the H is not said because of the´ on the e.......

It is pronounced ER-MES! My friend & I were arguing about that for a while and when we were at downtown SF, we finally decided to settle the argument and went in an Hermes store.

So, it is pronounced ER-MES

I say "loo-ee vee-tawn". That's how they say it at my boutique, and it's just stuck. That's what I've taught my daughter to say.

It's ER-MAY (that's how it sounds...). But the H is not pronounced simply because it's silent, not because of the accent on the E. Just like in the word HOTÊL (OH-TEL), or HAUTE (OAHT), the H is silent in these situations as well, only because it's a silent letter. Also, HERMÈS has a grave accent like this È not like this É.

(the "ver" sound is the same as "very", not "laverne")

L'Aimable = Lay-MOB (hint of an "L" at end)
Instead of MOB, it's an "Lay-mm-ahb" with the "L" at the end
