The Kelly that gives that ultimate casual cool vibe

I am not sure if this goes here, but I was watching Stacey & Darcey show on TLC and thought that Stacey’s Kelly looked very cool with the sangles closed and locked but the flap left open.

For me, it is not necessarily the size of the K.... We are all different shapes and sizes ourselves, so I do not understand how one specific K size could be the epitome of cool or casual. I'm short  so a 35 would make me look ridiculous. For me, a 28 is the perfect casual size.

I think it's more about how it's worn... just slung over the shoulder, maybe flap open... it's the vibe, not so much the bag itself, if that makes sense.

I totally agree with you. Except..... I am fairly short too and will not give up my 35s until I am too decrepit to lift them. Cross-body, wide strap, or hand only (I almost never use the straps that came with). I am sure that a comment that the bag is wearing me would not be unreasonable upon occasion. But I don't care.

Ironically, when I bought my "gateway bag," the Jypsiere, I really wrestled with 28 vs 32. I picked 28 because I thought the 32 was wearing me. LOL! Go figure.

I have a Kelly 32 that I bought about 15 years ago. There was a time when big bags were in and I really wanted my second Kelly to be a 35. Never got the chance to buy one and now I'm so glad I didn't. I'm very petite so that would have looked ridiculous on me without me even knowing it at the time!

@so_sofya1985, I hope you will consider posting your action shot of you and your white kelly (and it’s story) here and also on the thread referenced below. I keep returning to it in Hermes in action bc you rock it! Hugs

@wilmi posted an action pic of tpfer dodo2005’s Fuschia kelly from years ago. I post #42.
I dress down more than I dress up, but I like mixing it up. I think both my 28 kelly sellier and 42 fringe kelly Blu obscure (bought preloved for a great price this year, since I didn’t appreciate it when it came out) qualify for this thread. I wear flap over the straps and can get my hand inside to slip my wallet out. I wear a lot of vintage RTW (from my own closet or dead stock) and the more modern phw is edgier with that. I do think a 5’2 person, medium frame, can rock even the right 35 kelly (I’m still looking) depending on how it’s worn and ones attitude. Also, some 35s are cut small and their length and depth come closer to a 32. I posted my 28 kelly earlier on this thread, but have reposted here for size comparison to the 42.

Beautiful! I have to ask about what looks like fringe? in the first picture.

I've recently started to fall in love with the Kelly Retourne -I kind of rejected a Kelly as being too 'ladylike' for my style of dressing
(vintagey,or Japanese designers and when I'm in the mood jeans and an oversized shirt or Cashmere jumper) I own a Vintage Rouge Hermes Box kelly that I brought years ago in terrible condition in order to have a Hermes classic-though owning her I've realised that the very structured ladylike look is not 'me'.
Thanks to this forum my eyes have been opened to other Kelly options and I kind of love the idea of a 35 or 40 Kelly Retourne because to my eyes it is the perfect mix of casual yet classic and cool

The top flap of the 42 JPG fringe kelly is elongated down to the bottom of the bag. It’s solid leather from the top to the middle seam and fringed below. (I wear the kelly straps belted under the Flap bc it’s easier to get into the bag if you just lift the flap off the turnlock and belt the kelly straps underneath to support the bags spine a bit better. I can still get into the bag without unstrappng. here is a closer shot
