Hello fellow tPFers!

I am interested in finding a purse hanger than can mount on the back of bathroom doors, tables, and various other places that ordinary purse hangers cannot. I have narrowed it down to The Hookup (www.thehookup.com) and Clipa (www.clipa.us) both in polished gold.

I would greatly appreciate your vote, whether you have used either hanger, and your experience with your hanger of choice. Thank you!

I think you posted the wrong URL for Clipa.

I like my LuxeLink because it wraps around itself and it's sturdy. I'd be afraid the Hookup would slide off a table top.

Luxelinks look cute, but I want something that is not limited to flat surfaces. I want something that can mount on a door, grocery store handle, stroller, etc...choices, choices. :p

I don't know about the practicality of either because I've never had either but I'd rather have a heart hanging from my bag than a big circle! lol

I understand, but I do think either of these might be more likely to slide off of a table. It needs to have more contact with flat surfaces to be secure on them.

I think I am addicted to purse hooks more than my purses! :p So I have both Clipa and The Hookup and the Luxelink too! The Hookup is in a totally different class from the rest. The Clipa feels like a handcuff - it is really heavy and awkward because it is always spring loaded and easily falls off my bag. I also never get nearly the number of compliments I get when I use my Hookup. The Hookup is a real piece of art - it comes in a really nice box and pouch and has an amazing feel to it when you twist it open and closed that I just love. I never have problems with any of them sliding. I don't like using my luxelink because it always gets lost in the bottom of my bag and doesn't work on bathroom doors. I took some pics of my Hookup and Clipa so you can see for yourself. Happy to answer any questions too - I'll try to check in to this post more often as I just joined this site a few months ago but love it and happy to help other purse hook fans out there!

Thanks for posting and for taking the time to take pics! I love purse hooks and I'll have to pick up the Hookup based on your comments.

:welcome2: to tPF.

Thanks, Jenny! I am so glad you spent so much time sharing your experiences with both the Clipa and Hookup. Unfortunately I just purchased the Clipa in both gold and silver. I will, however, pick up a gold Hookup ASAP. :p

Couple questions...

1. Does the Hookup seem sturdy on flat surfaces?
2. Is the Hookups size overwhelming as it seems rather large?
3. Would you mind snapping a photo of the Hookup on one of your bags...I am trying to get a sizing example.

Thank you so much!!!

Your welcome! Good to see I am not the only one that is hooked on handbag hooks! The Clipa is more like a piece of hardware rather than something I like putting on my nicer purses. The Hookup seems to be just as strong and it stays put on pretty much any surface I have used it on except if the table is really thick with a rounded edge then both hooks don't work well (but that is the problem with all the hooks I have). I think the size of the Hookup is just about right, it fits well on my bag and looks great! I get just as many comments with it on my bag as when I use it. Glad to be of help!
