Wow, this colourway is really versatile - it's a great match with all these cashmeres.I finally managed to pick up one of the scarves I was regretting passing up, thanks to @Ania letting us all know there had been a replenishment of the Spring/summer season silks a few weeks ago.
So - here is Plumes en Fete in cw 03.
I know it’s been shown before, but I love it and wanted so see how/if it would match some of my sweaters, so I figured...may as well share pics.*Please excuse the heavily wrinkled cashmere* I was not going to try them on so didn’t bother steaming them after bringing them out of their very crammed closet space

When you live up north that’s an easy “uniform” to fall back onWow, this colourway is really versatile - it's a great match with all these cashmeres.
Ok, I need some help! A couple months back, I bought my first H scarf, Plumes en Fete in the light blue. I love it, it's gorgeous, and I've caught the scarf bug! My collection's small, other than the Plumes I just added Toucans in the white/green/pink with the burgundy hem.
When I went to pick up the Toucans I tried on Les Artisans in an orange/purple cw. I loved the design, but didn't love the orange, and talked myself out of it. Thought about it all the way home and saw it online in 11, bought it on impulse. FedEx just dropped it off earlier than expected, the perk of living by a major FedEx hub!
I still love the design. It's something I had to appreciate in person; all the tiny details and the Hermes easter eggs. It's not only beautiful, it celebrates the brand and its craftsmanship. Its a scarf lover's dream--beautiful corners with lots of interest that knot so perfectly! It think it will be one of those designs that ends up with grail status, and I'm afraid that if I pass now and regret it, I'll have to pay a premium later.

The only problem? I don't know that this cw is my favorite. Or more accurately, I worry that it's too similar to my Plumes. I didn't realize it, but the background is the exact same shade of blue, and they share many other colors. If I had my choice of any of the cws, I'd probably go with something yellow, maybe 15 or 03.

Thoughts? I'm not normally someone who shops on impulse, so I'm feeling a bit guilty. My collection is small, and I'd planned to try to maximize it by only buying scarves that were quite different from each other.
Love the red one on you. Since you have already a blue scarf and you want to be carefull with your collection, it might be « useful » to pick an other color.Okay, part two of this dilemma:I picked up the red cw of Artisans when it was on the website last week to compare. I absolutely CANNOT keep both.
Pros of the blue:
- suits my complexion
- love the navy hem!
- goes with several tops I already own
Cons of the blue:
- similar color scheme to my Plumes, would be worn with the same tops
- don't love the turquoise in the center; would mostly try to hide it in knots
Pros of the red:
- adds some variety to my small scarf collection
- prefer the red in the center over the bright turquoise
- trees/bushes are green (a silly thing to like, maybe, but I do!)
Cons of the red:
- seems busier, harder to match to tops I own
- might be less flattering for me, complexion-wise.

Help?
So, here are a few pictures from my Cité Cavalière. As I told DH, I'm not getting lost anymore in the city with this perfect map. I also purchased a scarf ring, as I'm not very talented for knots. Love its heavy feeling.Thank you so much, dear Julide!![]()
Thank you very much for your nice comments! ❤️
Thank you! Looking forward to seeing your mod pix...![]()
I think the cons of the red cw are compelling cons. If it doesn’t match your existing wardrobe and color scheme - it won’t be worn. It looks lovely from what I see of the pics but if you think it doesn’t work for you due to the undertones - it won’t be worn. I think it’s acceptable to own two scarves in the same color family because the designs are totally different and the vibe of each is different. I can’t tell you how many white collared shirts I own ( a lot) because they are all so different and have a different use case. You also have cons on the blue artisans such as the middle etc. Do you love this design more than the tying issue or should it go back altogether?Okay, part two of this dilemma:I picked up the red cw of Artisans when it was on the website last week to compare. Help?
Have to be honest: I have never liked this scarf, seriously never, and when I saw the blue on you I was so blown away that I emailed another TPFer and was like omg am I missing out on this scarf?! I personally don’t have the same reaction to the red. Hmm! This is a great question! Now I've gone down the rabbit's hole of the Matthaus Merian Paris map that was the inspiration for this scarf. That section on the H scarf seems to replace a church/abbey on the Merian map? No idea what it's meant to represent, though! So, here are a few pictures from my Cité Cavalière. I hesitated for long with the pink / green version.
Every time I look at it I see a new detail, here are a few. And I just don't understand what's the last one I picture, anyone have a clue ?

Thank you! It's a good reminder from more experienced scarf owners that I to only keep something I'm in love with, or else I won't wear it.Love the red one on you. Since you have already a blue scarf and you want to be carefull with your collection, it might be « useful » to pick an other color.
But, in my experience, if you are not completely in love with a cw, the scarf will not be worn a lot... I’m not sure this is very useful!

That's so kind of you! I guess I have to admit that the blue really does suit me, even if I'm drawn to the red. Maybe you're right--there will always be other seasons, and there might be a red scarf later that I love even more.Have to be honest: I have never liked this scarf, seriously never, and when I saw the blue on you I was so blown away that I emailed another TPFer and was like omg am I missing out on this scarf?! I know you have a small collection and don’t want too many repetitive colors, but sometimes we just have to lean in to the colors we like and/or the ones that look good on us. I’m sure eventually over the years your collection will grow, maybe later on some colorways will appeal to you that are very different. Then, you may miss owning two scarves from the fab blue colorway that looked great on you!
Agree here - both are nice but the blue is like WOW! Hope we helped you to decide!Thank you! It's a good reminder from more experienced scarf owners that I to only keep something I'm in love with, or else I won't wear it.
I do really like the blue! I actually like it far better worn than on its own, the corners are so stunning, and the hem is so striking, it might be my favorite part. I think the turquoise just seems like a really overwhelming block when it's untied, but it's easy enough to knot in such a way that it's not very visible. I'm coming around to the idea that although they share some colors/would be worn with the same tops, the overall vibe of the plumes/blue artisans are totally different, so it's okay to have both.
I really like the way the red looks untied, but I'm trying not to consider that as much since it's not going to be framed, but worn. I do like that it opens up the possibility to do different sorts of knots than the blue, since I actually want to highlight its red center instead of hiding it. But I love its corners/hem less, and that's my favorite part of the scarf.

One other thing I thought of - you mentioned that you don’t like the deeper blue color in the middle of Les Artisans, so you’d highlight the edges, which are paler. The plumes you have is sort of the opposite. While you can certainly tie it so that the paler feathers show, the deeper blue is harder to avoid. I think you can wear different colors with these two scarves. For example, the Les Artisans looked great with your pinkish-nude shirt, but I just don’t think plumes would look good with that shirt (even though it is from the same color family).Thank you! I completely agree ! That's why I am also fascinated by Cosmographia Universalis.Hmm! This is a great question! EDIT: to add a link to the image of the map on wikipedia; these sorts of historical/cultural connections are why I love H so much!
I totally agree and had the exact same reaction - the blue is stunning! Looks like it came with the dress!Hi! Long time reader, thank you all for the continuous education. I started the year with one 90cm, and am now up to 5 ! I went to the store yesterday and picked up a few things. Wanted to share a new use for the nano scarf. I used magnets (suggested on another thread) to secure it to a super low cut dress I was planning on wearing it to a wedding in Hawaii that got moved to a local winery, and now the nano gives the dress a more modest neckline!
Also got the La cite cavaliers shawl in fuchsia. Tried on the caramel, but it didn’t work well with my skin tone. Thanks for letting me share!
